About this Cook
I'm a stay-at-home Mom of two silly girls. We eat in a lot, so I have become a master in the kitchen. As recent transplants to Washington we are adjusting to an electric stove (YUCK!), and cold weather. I raise chickens for fresh eggs and I love to work in my garden.
My favorite things to cook
Savory dishes mostly. I was a vegetarian for 10 years, so I do have a love for the veggies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking birthday cakes, and cooking for the hubby during the games.
My cooking triumphs
My Mother-in-law finally complimented my cooking!!
My cooking tragedies
I burn bread, I have no preference of any kind, I can burn: rolls, muffins, croissants, pizza, etc. HOWEVER, I am currently blaming this on a poor stove. ;)

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
These were the best, just like it says!! Rolled out perfect, and the kids could even help. Thanks!!

The Best Chicken Fried Steak
I used the 'make your own buttermilk' trick and I don't think it worked for me. The steaks tasted like the flour wasn't cooked enough (although the meat was done), and they seemed quite greasy. I didn't have vegetable shortening and just used canola oil. I would try them again with real buttermilk and I would let them drip dry on a rack so they aren't so greasy. Also the gravy wasn't so great, needs work.

Special Deviled Eggs
Something was off with these. I love horseradish, I love mustard and I love sweet pickles; so I'm not sure why I didn't love these!?! I would definitely try again and mess with some of the ingredients.
