About this Cook
I am in my twenties and trying to decide what I like to "Do". I get into things all the time, but give up before I develop a skill. All my life I have kept coming back to cooking and I think that I am going to stick with it this time.
My favorite things to cook
sweet breads are fun to bake. working with chicken breast is fun too because it is so versatile and tasty!
My favorite family cooking traditions
not really any traditions....i think i get my flare from my father though
My cooking triumphs
chocolate chip cookies, eggplant Parmesan, new york cheesecake, chicken fingers and sesame chicken.
My cooking tragedies
several apple pies. Which makes me so sad because the first apple pie I ever made was the best one that I have ever eaten. :[

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
Turned out perfectly. My sauce was super thick though, so I kind of just smothered it over the apples before putting on the lattice. I don't have a problem with this, just something I had to deal with. I used 8 smallish Gala apples instead and reduced the white sugar by 2 tbls. Awesome!

Diane's German Chocolate Cake
This cake it totally decent. Not extremely gourmet tasting, but if your on a budget it is really satisfying. I did not like that there was not enough icing to frost the sides of the cake, there was only enough for the layers. So I found a chocolate glaze recipe and drizzled that over the whole cake in a cross-hatch pattern. It still looked pretty, so I'm not too disappointed. The icing also took really long to thicken; I'm not even sure if it was the right consistency when I took it off the stove. Served it next to a big scoop of chocolate ganache gelato, fantastico!
