Christmas Stollen

If you own a bread machine, you should follow the advice of JDMinNoVa. It's so easy and turned out beautifully!!!!! I've never used my bread machine before today but it was just THAT easy.

Warm Black Bean Dip

Meh. I thought it was just okay. BUT it might have been from the taste of the sun-dried toms. Maybe I'm not a fan of those? ;)

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Yum! My 9x13 pan was occupied (with brownies) so I used a smaller one without adjusting the crust or lemon part. It turned out great!

Hearty Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
I've been searching for a quick and easy breakfast substitute and this is a great one! The peanut butter flavor is subtle, but very yummy! I used all of the suggested substitutions that sounded worthwhile- 4 egg whites instead of 2 eggs; flax seed instead of wheat germ; half applesauce for some of the butter; a combination of honey and brown sugar instead of ALL of the sugar and chocolate chips instead of raisins! Very good!!!

Even the three year old loves it. Take the hint from the collegecook and grannyloohoo- add some cardamom (1 tsp)!

Sweet Potato Fluff

Love it. Have made it for the past couple of years, always to rave reviews. This year I chose to reduce both the white and brown sugar by about half, and it was still a crowd favorite! Also, don't be scared by the coconut, coconut-haters, you HARDLY notice it!

Kind of a lot of work for what they were? However, hubby loved them and they worked well for the preschoolers learning the letter 'O'!

Strawberry Muffins

These were quite tasty! I did add 1/4 tsp vanilla and 1/8 tsp cinnamon....not a lot, but just enough for a very subtle, extra layer of taste.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Bread Machine Bakers: It can be done! I didn't make this recipe by hand, I actually stuck it all in the bread machine, following what I could recall of the manufaturer's instructions: liquid on the bottom, dry ingredients in the middle, yeast in a divet on top. I let it mix and rise in the machine and it worked great!!! (I did have to stop the machine before a second mixing, but it remained warm enough to rise the dough.) SOOOO EASY!
