About this Cook
Married, no kids, love to play outdoors. LOVE animals. Have dogs, goats, donkeys, chickens and ducks. I work from home so I like to experiment with different recipes when I can.
My favorite things to cook
Sweets and appetizers
My cooking triumphs
I make great no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies and chocolate covered cherries. No great actual "cooking" triumphs but I'm getting close.
My cooking tragedies
Shortly after being married I wanted to impress my husband by making gravy to go with our dinner. I had watched my granny do it a million times when I was little so I just knew I could do it. I had the skillet on the stove, added a little flour and water and simmered for a while. When it looked ready I asked my husband to try it. He took a big spoonful and looked at me apologetically before he spit it in the sink. Apparently what I failed to notice all those times at my granny's was that she used meat drippings from whatever meat she cooked. I just made a flour-water paste. Another time I was making a punch recipe that called for one pack of kool-aid. I misunderstood and used one entire container of the pre-sweetned kool-aid. That was the sweetest punch anyone had ever tasted. Then, I blew up my microwave by boiling eggs for 45 minutes. After about 15 minutes there was a loud explosion and the power went out. I ran into the kitchen where I saw smoke coming out of the microwav

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings
Finally a rave review from my picky husband. He just told me he would never have to go anywhere to eat wings again. These were very, very good!!! I am not a huge wing fan but even I thought they were good. And the equal parts hot sauce and butter really make a sauce that anyone can eat. A little heat, not too much. Overall an excellent recipe. This one's going in the permanent file!

Mushrooms with a Soy Sauce Glaze
Loved this! I doubled the recipe because I had a bunch of mushrooms to use but I didn't double the soy sauce because I didn't have enough. They were perfect. This is my new favorite recipe!

Pear, Feta, and Lettuce Salad
This was really good. I added chopped chicken, dried cranberries and chopped almonds and made it a meal.
