Old Time Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
awesome, just like my grandma made. I used white wine instead of sherry and it was still delish! Also, very easy! Bake it on top of rice, steamed the brocolli. Loved it!

Slow Cooker Lentils and Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
we loved this recipe!! I browned the sausage in a frying pan w/ a half an onion (chopped)before adding it to the rest of the ingrediants. I also added 1 beef bouillon cube and a 1/2 teaspoon of a garlic herb seasoning mix that came w/ my bag of lentils. Turned out excellent, even the kids (4 & 3) loved it! I am making it again tonight (I made it for the first time about a week and a half ago) and the whole house smells delicious right now!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Very good, my new meatloaf recipe. I used 2 eggs and extra bread crumbs since I didn't have lean ground beef and I didn't have a problem with having to drain off any grease. I also made the sauce with only 1 tablespoon brown sugar and it was plenty sweet for us. The whole family loved it!

Was very good, but not great. Everyone enjoyed. Was great if you're in a hurry.

Italian Sausage and Zucchini

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
This was very good, had lots of flavor. Was very thin and I recommend making it with rice. I made it with pasta and there was a lot of liqued sitting in the bottom of the bowl. Would make again.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
Very good with some modifications. I blended it before adding the cream to make it smoother as another reviewer suggested. I also cut back the sugar to 1/4 teaspoon and used fresh basil and fresh tomatoes that I had on hand. Will definately make again.

Strawberry Dream Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This cake was absolutely delicious! Very easy too! I only made the cake (for time reasons), but am looking forward to making the icing next time. The only changes I made were to add strawberry cream cheese instead of regular and to use a milk chocolate cake mix instead of yellow. The cake was for my son's 4th birthday and I didn't want it to be pink :). Everyone loved it. I frosted it with a cream cheese frosting.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
This was easy and very delicious! I did have to whip the heavy cream for about 10 minutes to get the peaks (I never did it before and didn't realize it would take that long). Also it got a little runny when I was mixing the colors in (I used it to decorate a birthday cake), but I just stuck it in the freezer for 5-10 min. and then it was perfect - piped beautifully! Everyone loved it, I will definately make it again!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
This was delicious and very easy. Followed the recipe exactly, except that it took 10-15 min. per side to cook the eggplant in the oven and I used fresh mozerella. Will definately be making it again!

Kickin' London Broil with Bleu Cheese Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
This was sooo good and easy! I made it for company and everyone was impressed. I did use a little less pepper in the rub since little kids were going to be eating it too, but it was still great with lots of flavor. I used a London Broil and grilled it to medium and it was very tender and juicy! I served it with boiled baby red potatoes with chives and butter and grilled carrots.... It was a complete success, thanks for posting!

Aloha Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
Was very good, but with a few tweaks for our taste. I doubled the sauce but it was a bit too sweet, so I added an extra T. of Teriyaki sauce (which would make 3 after doubling)and a T. of soy sauce (and I splashed some extra on at the table). I also cut the chicken up before flouring and cooking (per another reviewer) and added extra pineapple. The kids and I loved it! Unfortunately for us my husband still thought it was too sweet (He has a thing against sweet foods at dinner) :). That is the only reason I won't be putting it in the weekly rotation! Thanks for posting.

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2008
I was not thrilled with this. I thought I would be after reading reviews and I love artichokes. My husband did say it was delicious, but I was disappointed. I guess I thought the topping would melt down some and it didn't. It was very thick on the chicken. I pounded the chicken as other reviewers suggested, so the chicken was on the thin side and the topping overwhelmed it. It was like taking a big bite of sour cream and mayo (I did do 1/2 sour cream and half mayo as other reviewers suggested). I scraped half of it off my chicken and spread the rest really thin and then it was better, but I still ended up leaving half of it uneaten and was not impressed. It did look and smell great as it came out of the oven and I thought I had a new dish for when company came over, but after eating it I've decided I won't be making this again. Maybe if it was made more like a spinach artichoke dip like other reviewers suggested....

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

Very good!!! Even with all the great reviews, I wasn't expecting it to be THIS good! It looked and tasted like something from a restaurant, and it was so easy and quick! Will definately be making this again. Thanks for the recipe!

Easy Cheap and Yummy Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
This was good for what it was, the kids loved it. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor, but there isn't much in it. I would definately make it again and play around with it some (I always doctor my baked beans, but just dumped the can in for this). I would definately add some cheese next time too. Over all it was an easy cheap and pretty yummy casserole :).

Mock Cheese Cake Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
This was okay, but not the best. Texture was a little different. It wasn't runny but it wasn't fully set (like pudding). The flavor was okay, the cherries were good, but it didn't taste like cheesecake at all. My family's compliment was "this is different, it's okay". I might try making this again with some changes. My thoughts... add 4 oz softened cream cheese in with the pudding and yogurt (to firm it) and add a topping of whipped cream with some marashino cherries (the pie didn't look very pretty).

Chocolate Pecan Pie III

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
Everyone loved this pie, it was very rich and delicious. I did have a little trouble tempering the eggs (I had never done that before) and had to spoon out a little bit of cooked egg, but it still turned out looking great! Will definately make this again.

Peach Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
This was very easy to make, it did not take too long either. It was very moist and delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, except added a couple of spoonfuls of thawed frozen raspberries (I also used thawed frozen peaches instead of fresh). The only thing I think I'll do differently next time (yes, there will be a next time) :) is to only do 1/2 a teaspoon almond extract and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. I found the almond flavor very strong, which isn't bad but I thought it detracted from the peaches. But... I did use real almond extract and imitation vanilla (what I had on hand) so maybe if I used real vanilla it would have evened out more... ? Definately recommend - it looked absolutely gorgeous and tasted delicious too! Thanks for the recipe!

Easy Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
This was very good and so easy! I followed the recipe, except did not add the chilies (for the kiddos) and added some cilantro and some goya brand seasoning. I did add the enchilada sauce to the bottom of the pan and the top of enchiladas, then I covered them in cheese, covered the dish with foil and put it in the fridge til I was ready to pop it in the oven. A big hit with the family, the kids ate it up fast, even my 3 and 2 year old! Thanks for the recipe, I'll definately use it again.

Quick Gnocchi

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
This is a very good recipe for quick gnocchi. The only problem I had was not adding enough flour (I read a lot of reviews about not needing as much) and I had a big mess when I tried to roll it out and cut it. I had to mash it back in a ball, add more flour, and knead it some more. I still give it a 5 because I'm the one who didn't follow the recipe and it tasted GREAT. I made it with the sage-butter sauce from this site - sooo delicious. I will definately be making this again. Thanks!
