Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2001
WOW! Exactly the word my husband said between just about every bite. I was worried about the sour cream, but trusted the reviews and am so glad I did. This was really wonderful and will be fixed frequently in our house.

Deep South Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2001
Just like the chicken I remember my Grandmother making in North Carolina. This will remain around in our house for years to come.

Easy Teriyaki Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2001
We all, including my ten month old, loved this. I marinated this overnight because we really hate dry meat and the chops turned out very moist.

Poppy Seed Poultry Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2001
This was a good starting place. Next time, I'll add some chopped onion for additional texture and flavor.

Island Chicken with Fruit Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2001
I loved this! My husband, who hates cilantro and white meat chicken, thought it was tolerable. I had to use mangos and papaya out of a jar, but it seemed to work well.

Apple Delight

Reviewed: May 30, 2001
This was pretty good. I was nervous when I took it out of the oven because the cake mix still looked like powder. I mixed everything together in the baking dish and let it sit for about 10 minutes. It wasn't pretty, but my husband and I both enjoyed it with some vanilla ice cream.

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: May 29, 2001
This is really easy and really good. I've used regular onion soup mix, fresh mushrooms and served it over rice and it's turned out just as well. I've also fixed pork chops this way and they were great. This is a real family favorite.

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: May 29, 2001
Wonderful! My husband loves ribs, but they intimidated me so I had never made them. This was really easy and really wonderful. My husband raved about them and the meat just fell off the bones. Thanks for such an easy, great recipe.

Chicken Hurry

Reviewed: May 29, 2001
Gross! This was terrible when I made it and even worse the next day. My husband prides himself on eating leftovers so we don't waste anything, but after one bite, this went straight to the trash.

Anna's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 29, 2001
These were very good: crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. My husband loved them and they kept well. I did increase the butter by a couple of tablespoons to get a crispier edge. My eight month old also enjoyed some non chocolate chip pieces of Daddy's cookies!

Garlic Bread

Reviewed: May 19, 2001
This was good bread, but did not taste like garlic, even after I doubled the garlic and garlic powder. I might make this again with more garlic, but will more likely try the other bread machine garlic bread listed here.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: May 19, 2001
I make this sauce by itself all the time to use with spaghetti. I also use ground turkey breast and turkey sausage to cut down on the fat and it's really, really good. Everyone who has tried it loves it!

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: May 17, 2001
This was so easy and delicious! It tastes vaguely like shake and bake (which I hate), but is much, much better. The best result was that the chicken remained incredibly moist. I used only thighs and legs to cater to my husband, but next time will try breasts, too, since the meat stayed so juicy.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: May 17, 2001
Tastes just like my favorite restaurant coleslaw. My husband and I both loved it. I will experiment with the white wine vinegar and lemon juice amounts to get just the right amount of tang for us, but I could make it exactly per recipe directions and we would always think it's the best. Wonderful!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: May 17, 2001
This was amazing! As a traditional Southern cook, I've been trying to find a cornbread that my both my Yankee husband and I like and this is it! It's a perfect combination of the two styles. I fixed it in a cast iron skillet to get the crust I like and took the advice of other reviewers and sprinkled sugar on top. This was truly the best cornbread I've ever had!

Brie and Mandarin Salad

I fixed this for a dinner party with vegetarians and it was a hit. My husband did not like the dressing, but everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

Kielbasa and Bow Ties

Reviewed: May 15, 2001
Wonderful! My husband thought it was really good, I thought it was great. I did have to add some liquid to cook the pasta, but I added tomato juice instead of water and omitted the addition of any extra salt. I also cut the oil to 1 TBSP and used low fat kielbasa to cut the fat. We'll definitely fix this again!

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2001
I substituted thighs and legs for the wings. This recipe was very tasty, but the sauce never caramelized.
