Apricot Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
Great!! The pork was incredibly tender and very moist- my guests raved about it. I didn't have sherry so I used red wine. I also stirred the roast dripping into the extra glaze- delicious, but it thinned out the glaze so I added a bit of corn starch and boiled a few minutes.

Sweet Chili Thai Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
I'll never buy Thai chili sauce again, and I used to buy it often! This recipe is really fast to make, is way cheaper, and is simple to tweak to fit your own taste (I increased the ginger a little). You should definitely double the cornstarch if you want the consistency of store bought. I tried halving the sugar like others suggested, but found the vinegar was way too strong, and put the rest of the sugar in to balance it out. If you want to decrease the sugar, then decrease the vinegar by the same amount and make up the volume with more water.

Cheese Dip with Beer

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I served this with nachos at a party, and it was a huge hit! I used garlic powder instead of garlic salt (it certainly didn't need more salt), and added some jalapeno peppers. Next time I'll thin it out a bit, possibly with more beer.

Roasted Okra

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
This was the first time I ate okra, so I don't have anything to compare to, but I liked this recipe. I would make it again, though would probably add some garlic powder and maybe other seasonings. I didn't measure the salt and pepper, but I'm sure I used way less 2 tsp

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
So great!! So much easier to make than a pie, and in my opinion, a lot better! I usually half the recipe and use a 8 inch round pan, and skip the sugar on the fruit. The triple berry listed here is my favorite, but I also make other versions like apple, etc.

Grandma's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Very tasty! I added a jalapeno pepper and a few cloves of garlic. Will definitely make again! I tasted it just after mixing the ingredients and thought the cloves were way too much, but after simmering it came together really nicely.

Banana Bread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
Really great! Although I did tweak them a bit. Based on other reviews I used 3 bananas. I also folded in butterscotch chips and chopped walnuts (and skipped the icing). Mine had to cook much longer, close to 30 min. I'm guessing that's because of the extra bananas. The cookies were had very good flavour and were SOO soft. Even the batch I thought I had overcooked was still very light and fluffy. Foolproof!

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Very simple recipe to make. I don't always add the shortening and it works out fine. I find I need more milk than the recipe calls for. I just keep adding it (very slowly) while mixing until it reaches the right consistency.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
This is a great recipe! I am definitely not an experienced baker, but these cookies came out very good each time I've made them. As suggested by others I added an extra cup of sugar and teaspoon of vanilla. I also used the sugar cookie icing recipe from this site.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
I thought that these cookies turned out good. I liked the flavour, but not so much the texture. Even making them very small and baking for up to 15min they still came out seeming undercooked: very wet (beyond moist) and a little mushy. However, people at worked really liked them and said they didn't mind the texture. I used butter instead of shortening(maybe that affected the texture?), left out the cloves, added chocolate chips, and used roasted almonds instead of walnuts.

Onion-Cheese Custard Tartlets

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
This is a really good idea for appetizers that are quick and easy to prepare, and pretty tasty, too. However, I found using mini-muffin cups as a mold problematic. Just a little bit of filling fills them right up, and then during baking the pastry puffed up and a bunch of the filling spilled out. I had better results using regular sized muffin cups: I was able to put more filling in, and still leave them half empty to account for the expansion. Definitely try out other flavorings, too, like cheddar and bacon!

Teriyaki Sauce

Really tasty and SOO easy!! I used is for chicken breasts and it tasted even better than a store bought brand that I used to buy all the time. Defiantly less expensive too!

Jasmine's Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I really like this recipe! Like others I use bacon. I also steam the sprouts instead of boiling and add some finely diced red onion with the bacon and garlic.

Buzzsaw's BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
Great sauce! 1st I made it straight by the recipe, except used brown sugar b/c I didn't have molasses. After that I added another 1/2 tsp mustard and doubled the garlic, and now it's my family's favorite sauce for anything bbq'ed!
