About this Cook
I grew up in the country (Northeast Missouri) on a farm. My Grandmothers & Mom are such good cooks; I hope to emulate them. I married my husband Dave in 2004 and instantly became a step-Mom to a 7 year old , Grace. I love being married and being a step-Mom; it's tough and tiring at times but always a blessing. I've worked for a company that makes flavors for the past 12 years. I use those skills in my own kitchen. I only cook about 3 days a week.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts -- I'll try anything low fat. BBQ Pork Steaks, Roasted Chicken, Chili, various casseroles...basically simple foods that can be frozen.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make Angel Food cake from scratch 1 time. It didn't rise. I called it my Fallen Angel cake. It was still good. I didn't want to wait until the eggs were at room temp -- patience is not my strong-point.

Carolina Style Low Carb Barbecue Sauce
Thanks for submitting this recipe. It's definitely a keeper. I had to leave out the Smoke as I did not have any in stock. This sauce is strong in flavor. A little goes a long way. I think that this would serve more than 6 servings. Very good.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken
I have tried so many roasted chicken recipes and this is truly the best! I never had a chicken this moist before. The spices made the kitchen smell wonderful while it was baking. My husband is a rather picky eater and does not like to eat leftovers. He loved it so much he's eaten much of the leftovers. My only deviations were substituting garlic powder for the crushed garlic. I also didn't have to cook it as long as the recipe stated. I did cook it until it reached 180 F; it's so important to monitor the temperature of the meat while it's cooking.

Key West Chicken
I thought that the soy flavor was too intense. I also added some garlic powder.
