Austrian Pancake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
This was good. Made as written except added a tsp of vanilla and cooked it in an oven proof pan- not a cast iron skillet. Middle puffed up about 15 minutes in and was cooked thru about 10 minutes early. I did not need the butter in the pan. Tasted like a giant crepe.

Black Olive Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
I wanted to LOVE this dip. It just wasn't good. I made it exactly as written. Tastes like mashed up black olives. I bought greek yogurt; I will try to mix some in and see if it helps it. :(

Man-Lovin' Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
Very good. I forgot to add the sour cream! I added milk to the sauce to make it creamier and easier to spread. Then I figured out Why i had to do that- forgot the sour cream! That being said and sans sour cream these came out great. Doubled the recipe and assembled it a day ahead of time and baked before serving.

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
This was easy. I made changes and I will forever make it this way. No mover canned sauce. Yippee. . SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS... Used up my tomato sauce the day before so I pureed a can stewed tomatoes, subbed chicken broth for the water. 1 TBS chili powder and 1/2 tsp cayenne. PERFECT,,

Pasta and Cauliflower

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
As written this would be pretty bland. Like others I roasted the cauliflower and added a few cloves of garlic. To the onion sauté I added 1/2 C of white wine, 1/2 C of water and 2 chicken boullion cubes. Added generous salt and pepper and fresh parm. With the additions it was good. Not sure if I will make this again though.

Cranberry Slush

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
This was insanely sweet. Was easy to cut by adding more bourbon (yippee) and soda to the glass. My guests thought it was tasty. I doubled the recipe and made it in a two gallon plastic baggie. Kept it in the freezer for a few days before serving. When it came time for serving i put some ice cubes in an ice bucket, placed the bag in and closed the top. It stayed slushy for a good 5 hours. Will I make it again? Only if someone requests it. Too sweet for me. _ those of you afraid of the bourbon- don't be; it adds a nice warmness to the end of the sip.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
Made these for Thanksgiving. All in all a hit. The only thing I changed was reducing the cream cheese to 1/4 C. I also made these 2 days prior- and turned them on low Thanksgiving day for about 4 hours- came out creamy- not pasty.

Delicious Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
Made as written except used a cinnamon stick instead of ground. Very, very good taste. The only problem? EVERYONE PREFERS THE JELLY IN THE CAN. LOL. I had to make real cranberry sauce- even if I was the only one who ate it. NICE RECIPE.

A Simply Perfect Roast Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
I have roasted small birds both chickens and turkeys but until this past Thanksgiving I haven't roasted a big one. I had major anxiety about drying out the bird(think Christmas Vacation.) I used this recipe as a guide. I made a few changes like adding a cup of red wine to the bottom of the pan with a few cloves of crushed garlic. I also stuffed the bird with celery and onion instead of stuffing. I was really stressing out because I cook my birds on a lower heat setting but had to increase my temp to 350. I kept checking it throught the process and cooked my 20 # turkey for 5 hours. Tented for 4 of the 5 hours and basted every 30 minutes adding broth to the pan as needed. Let the turkey rest for about 30 minutes. The bird was brown and juicy- delish!!

Pumpkin Pie Bars by EAGLE BRAND®

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
Made as written except cut sugar back by half- it was still very sweet. The flavor was good and the idea of pumpkin bars was cute but these just sat around. No one was wow-ed; if it where a pie it would have been gone in a day.

Heirloom Blueberry Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2012
This was really good. If you don't like overly sweet cake you may want to scale back the sugar. Added a tsp of vanilla. This was so moist and really nice with the cinnamon. I didn't think it needed any topping. My husband wanted some though.

This was yummy. Made as posted but added 3 more cloves of garlic. The only issue was that it needed more flavor. Had to add more pepper, and parmesan was delicious addition.
