Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2001
Excellent recipe! The hardest part was defrosting the turkey, but the rest was so easy!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2001
Lots of banana flavour, but it's more bready than cakey. I was looking for something a little more moist and cake-like. But if you're looking for banana BREAD, this is pretty good.

Melt In Your Mouth Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2001
Mmm, very tasty! I used a cookie press heart shape, and they were quite small, so it made a lot of cookies, and I had to adjust the baking time. Once I figured that out and stopped burning them (by the third pan), they turned out great.

Pistachio Cream Cheese Fingers

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2001
These are great, not too sweet. The dough is easy to handle when cold, but by the end of the bowl they started sticking to my hands (so I ate some dough). My 2 year old daughter loved these. I must have made mine too big, because I only got 27 from a 1/2 batch that should make 50. Next time I will make them smaller.

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2001
Absolutely delicious! It does take quite a while to "paint" the cups, especially when you use a spoon, but the clean-up is tasty. Even better than the Reese Peanut Butter Cups I USED to buy at the store. My daughter and I devoured them.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2001
Mmm! I have a fondness for Mall Pretzels, and since the one near my house moved from the mall, I have been in withdrawal. My sister and I had fun making these, and they were sooo good. Next time I will put garlic in the butter topping, just like my favourite ones from the mall. PS. These are way cheaper to make than to buy too!

Spicy Bagel Bites

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2001
Mmm, these are a great snack, and I always have a freezer full of leftover bagels. My husband asked me to make up a whole bunch so we always have some on hand. My 2 year old daughter loves them too.

Potato Salad I

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2001
This is a really good recipe, however, I think it needs more mayo. I used the 3/4 cup called for and it wasn't enough, so I added another 1/2 cup. It tasted great, and my sister in law went back for thirds, but everyone agreed it could use a bit more mayo. Best potato salad I've tasted in a long time (and I don't like potato salad).

Grandmother's Punch

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2001
What a wonderful punch. I made it for my daughter's second birthday party. It was mostly adults, and they thought it was too sweet, so we added more water. I guess next time I will use a bit less sugar, but everyone loved it.

Cream Cheese Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2001
These were wonderful. They tasted so good, we were eating them hot from the rack while the next pan was baking. I used a flower cookie press with strawberry jam centres. Make sure you make a thumbprint for the jam to stay in or it runs down the side of the cookie, and they don't look as pretty. We had to eat all the "bad" ones right away... :)

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: May 9, 2001
Mmm, tastes great. I was looking for something to decorate my daughter's birthday cake (star tip, pastry bag kind of icing) but I don't like the traditional Buttercream that is made with lard. Ew! I tried this with Butter Pecan cake (Betty Crocker) and it was just fabulous! Held it's shape when piped onto the cake, everyone raved about it.

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2001
Delicious fudge, but it takes forever to make. The heating stage took nearly an hour. Then I beat it and beat it and it never really lost it's gloss, so I poured it in the pan anyway. If I'd known how much work it would be, I would have doubled the recipe, because it really was quite tasty and I might want to make it again.

Wow, this is so easy! No boiling, soft-ball stage, stirring for hours. Just heat, stir, pour, cool, eat. Tastes great too.

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2001
Turned out really well, very easy. I added 2 Tbsp of sugar to give it a sweeter flavour. Make sure you mix the flour and eggs really well, or you will have lumps at the bottom of the bowl.

Grandma's Five Cup Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2001
Wow! I never used to like this, but I tried some at a friend's house, and all of a sudden I had to have more! Found this quick recipe for what we call Ambrosia, and it is delicious! Very easy to make, and I had all the ingredients in the house. The kids wouldn't eat it, because it had coconut, so next time I will take a bit out for them before I add the coconut. What a great recipe!

Raspberry Almond Coffeecake

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2001
So easy and so delicious! I was looking for a quick dessert to make when my diabetic aunt was over. This was perfect (we left her corner un-iced). She even took the recipe home. The rest of the family raved over it. Next time I will make a bigger batch!
