Broiled Grapefruit Crisp

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
I tried this on a whim this morning, as I like oats and cinnamon, and I adore grapefruit. I made it exactly how the recipe called for (except I omitted the salt), but only one half. Broiling it burnt the out of the topping, so I took out the rest of the topping and the second half and tried it again, baking it at 350 for 10 minutes. Came out nicely that time. It's interesting, but I don't think I'd make it again. Something about the sweetness of the topping and the tartness of the fruit don't really go together all that well!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
These are awesome! My first time making them! It was nice to let the bread machine do most of the work, and easy to do the rest. They just came out of the oven, and I've had two already. Next time I will change the cream cheese in the frosting for some milk, since I am not a big fan of cream cheese at all.

Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
My fiance and I loved this recipe. My only problem was there wasn't enough sauce. I did double it like others said to do, and also added a tbsp of worchestershire sauce, but it wasn't enough for us! I think I may even double it again! We like our veggies and rice smothered in sauce as well. It's a great, easy recipe, that can be changed up with whatever vegetables you ahve on hand, or switch out rice for thai or egg noodles. Will definately be making this many times in the future.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Very rich and super moist! My fiance LOVES this cake! I also like to halve the recipe, add 1 tsp of orange extract, and make chocolate orange cupcakes! Tastes just like a Terry's chocolate orange if it were to be in cake form! Delicious!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
Honestly, this recipe is a keeper! It's SO easy and fast, and I usually have most of the stuff on hand. Even my fiance, who is one of the pickiest people I have ever met, raved about this, and he HATES mushrooms and especially cream of mushroom soup! He couldn't believe it was in there when I told him. Also, if you save the rest of the roast and the sauce, and then cook some veggies like corn, carrots and potaotes and throw it all together warmed up, you have a quickly made beef stew that is very good! I am eating some right now, and it get's rid of the leftovers! I don't change anything about this recipe, but I like to rub the roast in garlic powder and pepper before putting it in the crock pot!

Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
I took some advice from other reviewers, added cinnamon, vanilla, cut back on flour, used half white sugar/half brown sugar, and used more strawberries than called for. Still, I found these fairly bland, with a weird texture. The only mouthfuls I enjoyed were ones consisting of mostly strawberries. Too bad, I was excited to make these.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
Even now, as I am writing this review, I am eating these tasty meatballs. I did alter the recipe, and will probably tweak it again the next time. Here's what I did differently. I did make my own meatballs from scratch. Instead of using onion and egg, I used seasoned bread crumbs, onion powder, and garlic powder. Rolled them into about 1" balls, and got about 33. For the sauce, I have never dealt with chili sauce before, so I tasted it before using, and was not impressed. It tasted almost exactly like tomato sauce to me. So instead of using 12 oz of it, I used 8, and 3 oz of this Spicy Thai sauce I got from M&M's and love, and 1 oz of Frank's Red Hot Sauce. It added a lot more kick to the sauce, which is welcomed in my household. We also love lots of sauce, and this recipe yields A LOT of sauce, I almost dare to say too much. I think next time I will either make more balls, or only make 3/4 of the sauce, and probably a little less grape jelly as well. I served it over brown rice. It is enjoyable!

Perogies

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
These were really good! I love perogies, and thought they'd be hard to make. However, using this recipe, I found them very easy. The dough is just as good as store boughten ones, and wasn't hard to seal. I took the advise from other reviews and made less potato. I made 3.5 lb instead of 5 lb, and still had half of it left, so doubling the dough batch is a must. I made both bacon and onion ones, boiled them for about 4-5 minutes, then browned them on both sides. Delicious!
