Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly as written. It was too bland for my taste. I love all of the fresh flavors of basil, tomato, and parmesan, but there was just too much pasta to taste any of them. I will probably try it again using only one 8 oz package of angel hair pasta.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
The flavor of this soup is great. I had some difficulty with the chicken, though. I had to use way more oil than the recipe called for to saute my chicken correctly and it took a lot longer than 5 minutes. I almost gave up because it was sticking and not cooking thoroughly. I'm glad I didn't! Eventually, the chicken cooked. Once I added the other ingredients (including a can of black beans as others suggested), the soup turned out delicious!

Thick Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
These cookies were soft and thick with just the right amount of flavor. I followed the directions exactly as written. They are definitely meant to be frosted. I had to add a lot more water to the frosting than called for, but it still turned out good. I'll make these again!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
These were good, but they were a little too sweet for my taste. My husband says to stick to the Tollhouse recipe. I think I agree.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
This was good but not great. I followed the directions exactly - ingredients and cooking times. I think 3 chicken breasts is too many. If I make this soup again, I will use 2 full size breasts instead. I will probably use chicken broth instead of beer, as well. The sour cream, cheese and chips are a necessity with this soup!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
This is very easy and very good! Pulling the pork was my favorite part. I used Bullseye BBQ, but next time I'll try a sauce from scratch. I will definitely be making this again. Update: Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce bumped my rating up from a 4 to a 5!

Gunline Coffee

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
It wasn't love at first sip for me. It took me a bit. But after adding a little extra creamer and finishing a full cup, I found myself wanting more. I can definitely see keeping a tub of this in my desk at work (to replace my Internation Coffee mix) and bringing it camping. Don't judge too quickly as I did. Savor it a bit. Then you'll see why gunline coffee has such a good rating.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
This is a tasty, refreshing salad. Next time, however, I will cut the sugar in half as others suggested. It was just a little too sweet.

Mom's Warm Milk

I love the combination of flavors, but this drink was just too sweet for me. I will try to cut the sugar in half next time and use whole milk instead of 1%.

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
Delicious! Everyone in the house gave it a 5 star rating. I was a bit too excited to try it and popped it out of the pan before it was completely cool. It ended up splitting into a big mess! I'll have more patience next time. :)

Easy Olive Oil, Tomato, and Basil Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
This pasta was good, but definitely needed more tomatoes. I would agree with another reviewer and add 2 to 3 times more than the recipe calls for. I would also toss in some mozzarella for extra flavor.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
These brownies are very good and very quick to whip up. My only problem was that the frosting was too thick. I forced it to spread, but next time I will add some milk to thin it out a bit. I'll be making another batch soon!
