I am a stay at home mom in a new house we are currently still renewing. I am half filipino and married to another fellow half filipino! alot of our foods we make are inspired by our mothers way of cooking.

my favorite things to cook would probably be deserts and anything italian-esque.
My favorite family cooking traditions
eating rice with nearly every meal! it is how both myself and my husband were raised and we both can't live without a great rice maker. also, eating cabbage in some way for new years! :)
My cooking triumphs
Recently? Cooking pancakes! Lol. I'm not sure what the name of the pan we use is, but it's square shaped and flatter than the rest. i recently found low-medium heat with no cooking spray or oil of any type makes it really hard for me to burn them! Lol :)
My cooking tragedies
The first time i tried to make fried rice, it led to my husband spending atleast an hour in the bathroom, lol. i put waaaaay too much oil in the rice. and i thought it needed to be darker i added more soy sauce...he says it tasted good but the oil went right through him. since then, i've mastered the ways of making fried rice and my husband loves it! :)

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole
This had a great taste to it. I had it in the oven for 15 minutes before i realized I FORGOT THE SOUR CREAM! It tasted great without it, i wonder what the difference would be with the sour cream...at any rate it was a crowd pleaser. I am sure you could make this the night before and refridgerate it and bake it for some time to warm it back up and maybe get a crisp top again but it really doesnt take any time at ALL to prep and put together and only 45 mins to cook. Also, once it has been in for its 45 mins don't be alarmed if it seems too soft or your fork doesn't come out smooth..remember the cream corn you put in :) its cooked! just let it sit and it will thicken and be yummy!

Southern Green Beans
This was fantastic. I used russet potatoes, a medium/lg yellow onion & about 7-8 strips of smokey bacon. I eyeballed the amount of chicken broth i used, probably somewhere around 2 cups of chicken broth used. it tasted great. i added garlic powder, peppers & salt but forgot the vinegar. The bacon really makes it flavorful and the onion soaks up the flavors great. Made for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit. Will make in smaller portions for future dinners :)

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes
I used large russet potatoes, left out the milk & chives and used about 3 semi large tablespoons of Chez Whiz instead of shredded cheese. my 5 yr old son who never has anything specific to say about anything he eats said it was his new favorite food and he ate 2 of them skin and all! my husband loved them and said i had to have bought them from the frozen section they're just too good! =) ALSO! Instead of baking i microwaved for about 12-14 minutes and it was perfect after baking for 15 at 350 as stated. Very yummy!
