Gold Fever Chicken Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
Made this with chicken breasts and it turned out great. I used dried cilantro instead of basil, and only used 3 cloves of garlic. I put the extra marinade on the stove and simmered it for 10 minutes and poured it over the chicken and rice. Really good!

Jalapeno Hot Sauce

I LOVE this recipe. I add a bit of sugar and also a teaspoon of cumin, but otherwise make it just as directed. So good on everything!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
Okay...so I started the slow cooker last night before bed and woke up to a great smell wafting up to my bedroom! I used 6 cups of chicken broth and 3 cups of water and added NO salt until this morning when I mashed them with my stick blender (still in the crock pot). UNBELIEVEABLY GOOD...No need for my cereal...I've already had my breakfast! I keep going back for another spoonful and really have to stop so that there will be plenty for my party tonight!

Daddy's Sausage and Peppers

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
Yum! My only complaint might be that fortunately I was only feeding three people, because one can of diced tomatoes would never have been enough liquid for the recipe if I was really making for 6. I added a little crushed red pepper and a little less garlic, but a bit more olive oil. Definitely a "keeper".

THE sourdough recipe. Couldn't be any better or easier.

Concord Cosmopolitan Martini

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
Very, very good but just a teeny bit sweet for me. I added a bit of lime juice that really added the "tang" I needed.

Summer Beer II

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
One of the reviewers knew this recipe as "Skip-and-go-naked" -- well, I was first introduced to these drinks (although we used plain lemonade instead of pink) way back in 1980 when camping at Cape Hatteras in NC. I was told they were called "Strip-and-go-Naked!"....and although my memory is a bit foggy, I think we did!

Margarita Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
I have not yet prepared this recipe but after reading ALL the reviews, now I'm definitely going to try it. Seems that people either loved it or hated it! I'm wondering if the brand of Margarita mix makes a difference - also, some mixes have the tequila included and some don't. The ingedients aren't specific. That could make a big difference in the end result.

Mumze's Sticky Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
Great flavor but I should have taken one of the reviewer's advice and just put 1/2 the sauce on the chicken and thicken the other 1/2 on the stove with some cornstarch. I also added the fresh ginger. I actually didn't have wings so used this sauce on a pan of drumsticks and everyone loved it.

Skyline Chili I

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
Ok, so I was in a hurry and completely skipped the slow cooker part and just simmered this on the stove for about an hour to and hour and a half. REALLY GOOD! I can't imagine that it could be much better after slow cooking all day but maybe next time I'll try that - or not! The only thing I changed was the addition of much more red pepper to make it a bit zippier. Cooked some angel hair and topped with shredded cheese. Amazing.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
5 stars with these changes...these changes make this really good recipe FABULOUS! Boil chicken instead of sauteing so that it shreds much easier. Saute onion, garlic and peppers in EVOO Use 3 cans of broth, then mix some cornstarch with a 4th at the end to thicken. Use 2 cans corn - or 2 cups frozen corn. Use 1 T chili powder. You'll never taste a 1/2 t as the original recipe calls for. Use 1/2 t cumin instead of 1/4. Add one can Rotel tomatoes

Louisiana Shrimp Creole II

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
I just loved this recipe! I didn't happen to have any shrimp so I used cooked, cubed chicken tenderloins instead. I too, only used half of the cornstarch and increased the chile powder and Worchestershire substantially. I wanted plenty of sauce for the rice so I added a can of tomato soup and was really pleased with the little bit of sweetness it provided. I also had some beautiful sliced yellow squash frozen that I cubed and added and was a delicious addition.
