Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2014
We make this soda bread every year. Today will be our fourth time! I love the combination of sweet from the raisins contrasting with the caraway seeds. The dough will be sticky, do not dismay. Yummy!

Cheesy Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
This is our annual Christmas morning breakfast. I make it on Christmas eve, have it all ready and pop it in the oven while kids open presents. Last year I tried switching it up and my family was not impressed. I do always end up using about twice the amount of eggs though, to hold everything together. I strongly recommend this recipe. Delicious and easy.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
I hate to sound like a broken record, but like so many before me, I loved this recipe. They are quite possibly the best sugar cookies I have ever made or eaten. The only thing is they didn't make as many as the recipe stated. I halfed the recipe and wish that I hadn't. We frosted them with key lime frosting and they were exquisite!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I wish I could rate this recipe higher. They looked so beautiful all fluffy and buttery. But, the flavor of baking soda was so overewhelming that no one could eat them. I still think the recipe looks wonderful and I'm going to try it again with less baking soda and probably less salt.

Four Cheese Margherita Pizza

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
I absolutely loved this recipe and my kids did too. Following the advice of another review I used Jays signature pizza crust. I do recommend cooking the crust for five minutes before adding toppings and I also cooked my pizza a little longer, about 15 minutes instead of ten. My grocery store didn't have Fontina so I just substitued it. Can't wait to make this with fresh summer tomatoes! YUMMY!

Dilly Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
I was surprised to find this recipe on allrecipes! My mom has made the identicle rolls (double the salt) for YEARS and I though she had brilliantly made up the recipe. I guess the glory actually goes to taste of home. My family has a near cult like following for the Beloved Dilly Rolls. I do all the mixing in my kitchenaid and I know it has enough flour when the dough is smooth, unsticky and has an almost skin like consistency. Let the rolls raise once in the mixer and once on the pan. My mom uses dried minced onions but I like raw chopped onion. You need to make these rolls ASAP! They will change your life. They make awesome little sandwiches with ham and turkey too. Sooooo Goood!

Marinade for Chicken

Sooo yummy! I forgot the lemon juice and added fresh garlic. This was perfect. My chicken marinated for an hour and it was still perfect.

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Oh my this really is a very good, easy and versatile recipe. I followed alot of the posted advice and grated a carrot in with the broccoli and added a quart jar of home canned potatoes. I also used a pound of velveeta and a bit less than a half pound of sharp cheddar. I used this amount of cheese while I used 1 1/2 times the other ingredients. Just now realized I forgot to 1 1/2 times the cheese and so glad I didn't it was perfect. I also added some fresh basil and sage. We ate this with pumpernickel bread cause we love it. My husband, three kids and a neighbor kid all cleaned it right up. I do want to add that if you didn't already know, the butter and flour mixture is a FANTASTIC base and you can make most any cream soup with it. Use it and master it-it makes a great clam chowder. Fantasatic!

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
My family is a big fan of lentil soup but they were skeptical when I tried something new. My husband was irritated by the carrots and tomatoes, but he turned out to love it and they gave it a very nice sweet flavor. I followed according to recipe but I also added a ham hock for flavor.

Our Favorite Olive Beef

I put this in the crock pot on a day when I was working late. When I got home, there was nothing left but little pieces. It was very good and tender. The sauce was very flavorful and I DO recommend that you serve it with hard rolls.

Shay's Irish Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
This was very good. But, don't expect it to taste like regular chili. We ate it with sour cream and cheddar and I only wished that I had made more. The kids and hubby loved it.

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I hate to sound like a broken record, but these are truly the best potato pancakes I have ever had. I made them from leftover mashed potatoes, just about six cups to 1.5 times the recipe. I didn't have any trouble with moisture. I do recommend a skillet, to keep up with demand! They go quick!!!

I expected big things after reading the reviews for this recipe. It turned out ok, but not earth shaking. Probably won't make this again. However, it did come together very easily and the kids liked it.

This was my first batch ever of zucchini anything and they turned out great. I was a little sceptical about the frosting cause it looked thin but it turned out really lucious and rich.
