Coconut Poke Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
The recipe as is gets four stars. To turn this cake into a 5 star cake I added 1 teaspoon of coconut flavoring in the batter and threw in a couple handfuls of coconut. Poke holes in cake using a wooden spoon handle. Otherwise, the holes are not big enough. I used 1 can of coco lopez cream of coconut (make sure you stir thoroughly before using as there is always oil in the bottom of the can) and mixed with 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk. Poured on top. I used the whipped cream mousse frosting and instead of adding vanilla to the pudding I used 1 teaspoon coconut flavoring and then topped with flaked coconut. Very good!!

Vanilla Ice Cream V

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
This recipe wasn't for me. I will stick to my old fashioned cooked vanilla custard ice cream. This wasn't very creamy and not much flavor.

Rhubarb Crunch

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2013
This is the only rhubarb crunch recipe that I use. I did double the cornstarch. This recipe is superb and have made this on numerous occasions. Always a hit and even those who do not care for rhubarb have loved it.

Peach Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2012
There is no reason to leave pie in oven or "boil it off". Simply add 2 1/2 T. of Instant Tapioca plus 1 T. Flour to peach mixture and stir. Pie will be bubbly and juicy when removed from oven. After pie cools it will firm up and be a perfect.

I was disappointed with this recipe. I used the peach jello. It really was just ok. Nothing special.

Four Egg Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
This in my opinion was not an ideal yellow cake. The cake was very dense and heavy. There was a sugary crust that formed after baking.

Honey Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Followed recipe as is with the exception of the honey basting sauce. I only used 1 T. of Worcestershire instead of 2 T. I used red and green pepper and large pieces of onion on the skewers. Will definately make again.

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Absolutely delicious. I used crasins versus raisins and pecans for the nuts. I made 1 1/2 times the salad dressing so I would have extra after mixing and the dressing absorbs in to the salad.

This was delicious. My 80 year old father savored every bite. I also doubled the topping, added cinnamon and used 5 cups of blackberries.

Dinette Cake

The results produce a very heavy cake, not much flavor and a very strange texture. I do alot of baking. This is just not a good recipe for me.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This was absolutely delicious and everyone loved it. Even mfy husband who doesn't like sweet potatoes. I did substitute the canned sweet potatoes for the baked. (One large can...and followed the remainder of the recipe as written.) This dish will become a Christmas tradition. Thank you.

This was not a hit at all. The mixture is way to heavy to serve with a big dinner. Will not make again.

Creamy Shell Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
This salad was a hit! I tripled this recipe to make a large bowl. The only changes I made was adding grape tomatoes cut in half, little bit of chopped onion and used mild cheddar versus american cheese. The tomatoes added color. Don't leave out the sunflower kernels! They really make this salad pop!

Marzetti® Famous Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
my husband makes this on occassion. I think it's just ok. I also find that it isn't really that good on the second day. Best used the day you make it. Homemade dressing/slaw is by far superior.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
I have spent the last three years trying different cole slaw recipes looking for that "go to" recipe. I finally found it! This is it. I did cut the sugar down to 1/3 cup, used celery seed versus poppy seed, added dill weed and a tad more onion. Great recipe. Thank you!
