Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
I made this recipe for the first time for a bake-off and it won! I followed the advice of others and I made it well in advance of my competition to give the flavor plenty of time to come out. Also, I doubled the coffee and liquor quantities. (I used half rum, and half Godiva Milk Chocolate liquor and it was great!) Like others, I could not find ladyfingers and used the recipe on this site. The two recipes are very complimentary. Thank you for posting, it was wonderful and I would recommend to anyone looking to impress!

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
Wow! What an amazing recipe! Very easy to make and the creator was telling the truth when they said it was restaurant quality. Even my incredibly picky, hates everything with onions boyfriend loved this recipe and looked longingly into the pot for more. I only changed one or two things: a clove of garlic crushed in with the onions, equal parts beef and chicken broth, small cubes of bread as opposed to slices, and I probably added more salt than necessary. (Warning-Definitely smart to wait to see how it tastes before adding more salt at the end with the pepper.) My oops, and it still turned out terrific. If you love French Onion, this is the recipe to try~ thanks for posting it!

Creamy Veggie Fondue

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
I had never tried a fondue before, and this was a very good first experience. I was surprised at how easy and fast it was to cook. I was brave and made some small changes and it still turned out well! (Which I think shows what a good base this recipe is.) I especially liked not having to use flour; I have had some very flourey recipes before and did not enjoy. If anyone is interested, here's what I did: I simmered a dry Chablis with crushed garlic, then added the cheeses (only used 2 ox of cream cheese though) then I added the milk as needed to smooth it out, along with the spices (no mustard). Finally I tossed in minced onion, tomatoes and poblano peppers. It turned into a great chip dip for our taco night!
