Old-Fashioned Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
I rarely have a negative review but this time, I was disappointed. There is an combination of taste that really are not good. No one in my family enjoyed it and I just did not finish it. I will not be making it again.

Welfare Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
Considering the ingrediences in this cake, I found it to be wonderfully moist, dense and of a good chocolate flavor. It is nice to find an old fashion desert that requires ingrediences that are readily available at any time. Great desert for low fat, no cholesterol diets. Thanks for sharing.

Chunky Applesauce

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2012
I have been making applesauce for 40years. This one is a very good recipe. I did sprinkle a little nutmeg because we like it. I thought the vanilla was a nice touch and only started with one tsp and added a little more to taste. Love the sweetness. Well deserved five star even without the nutmeg. It is quick and and my family loves it. Thanks for sharing.

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
These truffles are absolutely sinful. However, for some reason, the coating did not get firm even after being in the refrigerator overnight. I have used chocolate coatings for many years on numerous truffles and cookies and bars and this is the first time I run into this problem. I am not worried about having them left over regardless of the softer coating. They are wonderful. I will try it again with chocolate and parowax. I'm sure that will do the trick. Thanks for this wonderful recipe.

Kristin's Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
Not bad but not what I expected from the reviews. The texture was cake like, not strong enough in chocolate and not sweet enough for my taste. My husband liked it but found it had an after taste of something we can't put our finger on. It is a pleasant desert with icing or ice cream, but only fair on it's own. Will probably not make this again.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
I rarely give a negative review, but we, my family and I, really didn't like this. I would imagine this combination of ingredients is an acquired taste and since I never use celery seed with mustard powder, we just didn't enjoy this combination at all. Would not make it again. Sorry

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2011
It's no wonder there are so many five star reviews. Everyday ingredients, prepared in 10 min and all in one pot. I ligned my pan with a foil and sprayed it with pam. After baking, just lifted foil and Voila, done. Fabulous chocolate taste and moist texture. I have been making brownies and such for 40years and t this is #1 on my favorites from now on. All I got from my husband and sons was "Oh man that's good" As for me, well, it's my fourth piece in 15 min. Thanks for sharing.

Peanut Beef Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
I used the vegetables I had on hand which is why I gave it a four star. I made the sauce as directed and this is where the four star comes in. Delicious with any combination of meat, chicken and vegetables. Thanks for a new keeper.

Chocolate Buttermilk Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
Texture is moist and fluffy, not at all dense as a true brownie would be, and taste is wonderful. Icing is delicious but very sweet and that is rare for me. Baking with buttermilk always gives such a moist, wonderful texture. Will definitely make it again. My husband and son could not get enough of it. Simple to make with ingredients readily available at home and for once, I followed the instructions as given. I did baked it in a 9x13inch pan as I did not have a 15x10 in, and for 23min and it was perfect To me this is definitely a cake though and not a brownie and that's fine with us, so thank you for what will be a regular cake desert in my home. It can be easily rated as a five star.

Mushroom Chicken Piccata

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
This is the first not so good review as I do not usually send the negative ones, but I was disappointed as the recipe and reviews sounded good. Chicken and sauce was very bland and coating lost it's consistency once in the sauce. It sounded good and I should have tried it once before making for friends. Had to resort to Plan B.

Chinese Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
wonderful recipe. The only reason for the 4 stars is that I added crushed garlic to the mixture while cooking and added approximately 1 cup water to increase the amount of sauce and give it better smooth texture I will be making it again. Thanks for sharing. Kamal

All-Bran's Best Blueberry Muffins

Excellent muffins. The recipe is perfect as is. It is a good recipe to add any other kind of fruit if desired or a mixture of two berries. Thanks for sharing. These will be one of my regular favorites. A definite five star.

Buttermilk Oatmeal Muffins

These muffins are wonderful. Moist and tasty. The second time, I added bananas and nutmeg and cinnamon. Well worth the extra calories due to the buttermilk. Definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing. Kamal

Normal Chicken

Reviewed: May 13, 2011
I have made this chicken as instructed and again with the brown sugar and garlic. Although they are two different recipes, my family gave both of them a four on a scale of ten. I, on the other hand, thought they were both delicious and would make it again with the brown sugar and garlic. I have rated the original recipe as I do not think that the rating should be given to a recipe that has been changed to end up with someone else's recipe. Thanks for sharing. It is a good basis chicken recipe with room for variation.

Tea Biscuits

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
Very good biscuit. The first time I made them exactly according to the recipe and I enjoyed them. The second time, I added brown sugar and cinnamon. I loved the sweet, cinnamon taste. Served warm with butter and coffee or milk is wonderful. My family also enjoyed them, not to mention they are fast and easy to make. Made fresh for breakfast is a nice treat. It's definitely a keeper. A definite five star. Thanks for sharing.

Chicken in Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
Wonderful, fast and easy. Just the meal you want for a busy night. I used olive oil instead of vegetable and sauted one tablespoon of garlic before adding my chicken. I left my chicken on low in its sauce for about 20 to absorb the flavor. It was tender and quite tasty. My family as well as myself enjoyed it and will definitely make it again. Thank you for sharing.

Apple Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
Very good apple pie and I have been making pies for 30 years. I omitted the ginger by choice and cooked it at 375 for 35min at which time it was golden brown and cooked. The sides were getting dark. Cooking time in different ovens often differ, therefore, it did not require the extra 10min at 400. A little tip to pass on to others. Letting it cool completely prevents this pie or any type of fruit pie to become watery. Five star is well deserved.

Erica's Delicious Slow Cooker Beef Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
This is good, but with the changes that I have made, it is really not an honest rating. Browning it for a few minutes is enough. The beef was well browned. It is not necessarily one of our favorites although it was very tender. My family just prefers the usual slow cooker roast I make. Like others suggested, I added beef broth and worcestershire sauce. I also added a little more garlic and dash for more taste. I do, however, thank you for posting this recipe.

Mushroom and Leek Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
This is quite good but a little bland for this family. I added garlic and parsley and a tad bit of basil. It makes for a different, but tasty soup. I omitted the margarine and just used the olive oil. I substituted orzo for short egg noodles this time, and that was fine. I doubled the recipe since we do enjoy it for the following day. I also love the fact that it is light and with no potatoes and cream. That's where the four star comes in. I would have given it a five star, but with the changes I decided to make, I gave it a four star. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Will make it again.
