French onion cob loaf

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
I received this recipe as part of Recipe Exchange 2. I caramelized the onion in the bacon drippings and then added the reduced fat cream cheese and milk (I used milk to reduce the fat). Once melted, I added in the soup mix and a handful of grated sharp cheddar cheese. We dipped rosemary french bread into this and it was tasty. It would make a great dip for the holidays or for the Super Bowl. Thanks for a great recipe soundwrite01!

Crusty French Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
These really are wonderful crusty, chewy rolls. I didn't change anything except the size. I made 8 sandwich size rolls to go with Pepperoncini Beef on this site. They were crusty coming right out of the oven and then became very chewy which I liked. I love the texture and taste of these. They make great sandwich rolls as well as dinner rolls. Thanks for this recipe Donna and Heather!

Chi Chi

Yummy drink! I had leftover cream of coconut to use and this was the perfect way to use it up. It definitely tastes good and would be great with rum too. Nice refreshing summertime drink!

Italian Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
This was pretty good but a little bland for me. I used Kraft Zesty Italian dressing and added black pepper to the recipe along with the other spices. I let it marinate for 4 hours. The chicken was juicy but didn't have as much flavor as I would have liked.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
Great tasting cookies! I can only review the recipe itself since I made these into bar cookies because I felt lazy and didn't feel like scooping out cookies. I kept all measurements the same except the chocolate chips because I didn't have enough. I baked in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish for 25 minutes and they were perfect. Just the chocolate chip cookie fix I needed without having to drag out multiple cookie sheets.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
This is a great recipe but I changed the cooking method around. I first browned the sausage, removed it from the pan and then added in the chopped veggies to brown them. I only used a few tablespoons of olive oil. Then I added in chicken broth instead of water along with the beans. I didn't pre-soak the beans and never do. It only takes about 30 minutes extra cooking time and then I don't have to remember to soak beans ahead of time. I increased the cajun seasoning to 2 tsp. and think it could have used more. Overall, a good recipe but needs a little extra spice for my tastes.

Honey Wheat Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
This is my new favorite bread recipe. It has a wonderful taste and texture and the addition of the milk and egg makes this wheat bread taste better than most. I added more yeast because I was making this as one loaf in my bread machine and wanted to make sure it rose well. I used 2 tsp. total. I really enjoyed this bread and it made a great turkey-bacon-swiss sandwich today.

Jan's Pretzel Dogs

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
Yum yum! These couldn't have been easier to make. I halved the recipe and ended up with enough dough for 8 hot dogs. The taste is amazing. The pretzel dough on it's own is so good. Thanks for submitting this recipe What's for dinner, mom.

Cream Cheese Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
This is a good pie but for me could be better. I think the cream cheese layer needs something, maybe lemon juice to brighten the flavors because otherwise it was extremely bland and I even added vanilla to it. I doubled the cream cheese layer because I had a large size graham cracker crust. The blueberry sauce recipe is a good one and I love the lemon juice in it. Overall a good pie but with some additional flavorings to tweak the cream cheese layer could be five stars.

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
This was the best pasta salad I've ever had! My only change for personal taste is to decrease the oregano because it can be overpowering. I used white wine vinegar for the balsamic because it's all I had. I mixed it together at night and it wasn't dry the next day. It definitely tasted better the next day. This will be a dish I will make again.

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
This exceeded my expectations. I increased the seasoning salt and added pepper just for personal taste. I found 3 tsp of caraway seeds were the perfect amount for a large head of cabbage. I changed the cooking method overall though. I first browned the sausage and added in the garlic and onions to brown as well. Then added the other ingredients on top. I added about a tablespoon of cider vinegar to brighten the flavors in the dish. Great recipe I will definitely make again.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
5 stars for this recipe. I only made one change which was to increase the peanut butter because otherwise the dough was too stiff. I used my tablespoon cookie scoop instead of 1/4 measure and had to bake these for 10 minutes. Overall a great cookie with an awesome peanut butter-chocolate combination.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
This recipe is uber good! I used 4 tbsp. cocoa since I like a lot of chocolate flavor. Other than that everything else I left the same. I topped this with the mixture from the peanut butter cream parfaits recipe on this site for an awesome peanut butter/chocolate combination.

Peanut Butter Cream Parfaits

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
I used this peanut butter mixture to make parfaits with the chocolate cornstarch pudding recipe on this site for a great peanut butter-chocolate combination. This tastes great and wasn't too sweet since I used natural peanut butter. I'm sure it would be good with the chopped kisses added in.

Herb Batter Bread

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
This is an easy, tasty bread. I didn't have to use a hand mixer and stirred this with a wooden spoon. Since I didn't have dried parsley I increased the rosemary to 3 tsp., kept the thyme the same and added in a few dashes of basil. I used olive oil instead of shortening since I didn't have any and brushed the top with olive oil when it came out of the oven. A tasty bread that I will definitely make again.

Cheater's Fancy Smoked Salmon Fettucine Alfredo

I really enjoyed this! I couldn't find smoked salmon so I grilled a salmon fillet to get that smoky flavor. I really enjoyed the capers and tomatoes and they really brightened the dish. Thanks for the great recipe Skoo!

Tomato Pesto Batter Bread

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
This bread is very good with some additions. I think it needs more salt and next time I would increase this to 1 tsp. I added in chopped garlic and Parmesan cheese with the basil and sun-dried tomatoes as other reviewers suggested. It turned out great and I used rapid rise yeast as well. Thanks for a great recipe!

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
This is a spectacular cake! I had no problems with this one like other reviewers did. I didn't have lemon extract so I used a little more lemon juice. The icing rocks too! I baked this in a 12 inch tube pan at 325 degrees because large cakes like this one bake more evenly at a lower temp I think. I ended up baking it for 1 hour 20 mins in my oven. An overall very tasty, slightly lemony cake.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
These are good but I've had better pancakes. I cut the recipe in half and it still made 10 large pancakes. I didn't make any changes other than adding a tsp. of vanilla extract. These are good but I will stick with another pancake recipe I've been using. Thanks for the recipe!

Quick Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
This came out great but I had to add a little pasta water to make it thin enough. I added extra parmesan cheese and left out the parsley. Thanks for this tasty, quick recipe.
