Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2014
This is a delicious recipe that yields tender, flavorful meat. I didn't use the whole bottle of hot sauce since hubby doesn't like things too vinegary and probably used 10 dashes of Louisiana hot sauce. I also added cumin because I love the flavor of cumin. We used the meat to make quesadillas.

Easy Pepperoni Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2014
Delicious recipe that was easy to make. I used homemade pizza dough (Jay's Pizza Crust recipe from this site) instead of frozen dough. I added red pepper flakes to the seasoning mixture. I made a large batch of these one day to freeze to have for later. They froze well and tasted great when baked. Served with marinara sauce on the side.

Poppy Seed Bread with Glaze

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2014
This is a delicious cake-like bread and it's very sweet. When I make again I will only make a 1/4 of the glaze. I had lots of glaze left over and the glaze made the bread very sweet. I had to add in flour because the flour to liquid ratio is off and that may be why some had difficulty getting this to cook through. It is delicious and I plan to make again but make less sweet for my tastes.

Savory Bubble Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2014
Delicious and easy recipe to make. I ran out of the spice/cheese mixture so I had to make an extra batch of that to coat the dough balls. Otherwise it's a great recipe but double the spice mixture. I used Italian seasoning instead of the sage/tarragon because it's what I had on hand.

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2014
Delicious and easy recipe! I added vanilla to the filling and a teaspoon instant coffee to the water. Mine were done in 15 minutes instead of 25 minutes. These were delicious and so moist. Will definitely make again.

Jumbo Dark Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
These are delicious, very chocolatey cookies. I used Ghirardelli 60% Cacao dark chocolate chips and it made them extra rich and delicious. I didn't find them overly salty as others did but I always use unsalted butter so the cookie needs salt added in when you use unsalted butter. They tasted better to me after cooling completely rather than straight out of the oven.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2014
Yummy recipe! I halved the recipe and used cinnamon swirl bread instead of plain bread. I like the fact that this recipe wasn't too eggy since I'm not much of an egg fan. It turned out well and I will make it often.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2014
This is a delicious bread and it was a wonderful dough to work with. I don't know why people are doubling the sugar and cinnamon filling. This isn't supposed to be sweet like a cinnamon roll. I think the recipe is just great as is and had enough filling for me. The glaze on top adds to its sweetness. Thanks for a lovely recipe!

Baked Ham and Cheese Party Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2014
Delicious recipe! I used honey wheat Hawaiian rolls and they gave the recipe a mild sweetness that balanced the mustard and onion well. I love these little sandwiches and plan to make them often.

Double Chocolate Mocha Trifle

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
Delicious recipe that everyone raved about at work. I used the family size box of brownie mix, french vanilla flavored whipped topping and 3 cups milk. I think 1 3/4 cups milk is a typo and maybe that was supposed to be used per box of pudding. I followed the directions on the box of pudding for pie- 3 cups of milk for 2 boxes pudding. I will definitely make again and thanks for a wonderful recipe.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2014
Delicious recipe that is pretty and tastes delicious. I used the full amount of oil but would cut it down a bit next time for my tastes. I added in snow peas, chopped red bell pepper and sliced carrots. The cilantro is what makes this dish so don't leave it out.

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
I was skeptical of the recipe since I didn't know if the butter would integrate with the cream. It did and made for a luscious sauce. I added chopped garlic in with the butter when it was melting. I added the parmesan cheese in stages until it fully melted and stirred with a whisk often. I added in salt and pepper and it made for a wonderful dinner. Hubby said we could have this once a month since it was that good.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2013
This dish was fantastic and so easy to make. I doubled the sauce recipe because I wanted it really creamy and used red skinned potatoes. I also used chopped green onions since it's what I had on hand. Definitely cheesy and good!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
These are delicious pancakes and they even tasted better the longer they sat because the flavors melded and that's not typical with pancakes. I substituted buttermilk for the milk and vinegar and it worked out fine. Delicious pancakes that I will make again.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2013
This is a great peanut butter cookie recipe if you like soft peanut butter cookies. I omitted the milk since the batter was soft enough without it and many reviews said the cookies were difficult to shape with the milk added. I baked two batches, one at 375 degrees as the recipe indicated and that batch was too dark on the bottom. The second batch I baked at 350 degrees and those baked up well. You definitely have to leave these on the cookie sheets for 2 minutes to firm up after taking them out of the oven or they will fall apart. I enjoyed these cookies because they have good peanut butter flavor and they are soft.

Sun Dried Tomato Focaccia

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
This is delicious bread with great color from the sun-dried tomatoes. I thought it was a little too sweet and I've never seen a bread recipe call for so much sugar in it. Next time I will reduce the sugar for my tastes.

Mexican Sour Cream Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
I love rice and enjoyed this rice dish very much. I tasted it before it went in the oven and it did need extra flavor since it was a little bland as other reviewers have suggested. I added a few dashes of chili powder, cumin, coriander and garlic powder to the mixture. I didn't add extra sour cream as others suggested and it was fine to me. Thanks for a great rice dish!

Quick and Easy Mexican Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
Thanks for this easy recipe when I'm stumped about what to make with chicken. I didn't measure the spices and added enough of each spice to coat three very large chicken breasts. The browning step is essential because it locks in moisture and flavor. I will make this often.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
This is the best apple pie I've ever made. Apple pie is my favorite dessert so I've been searching for a great recipe. I used a deep dish pie pan, a combination of Braeburn and Granny Smith apples, 4 tbsp flour, 1 tsp of apple pie spice since it's what I had on hand, 1/2 cup sugar in the filling since I don't like overly sweet desserts. I also added in a big pinch of salt to both the apple filling and crumb topping since all desserts benefit from salt to balance sweetness. I also highly recommend using the lemon juice since it will also balance sweetness. For my tastes next time I will reduce the sugar in the crumb topping but as it is now it is still lovely and delicious. The pie was not runny since I used two additional tbsp of flour. Thank you for a terrific apple pie recipe!

Hearty Sausage and Rice Casserole

Delicious recipe! I used smoked turkey sausage and a 6 oz bag of yellow rice since it's what I had on hand. I added two cloves of chopped garlic because they had to be used. Great recipe I will make again.
