About this Cook
I am 23 years old and married to a wonderful man, Rance. I have been a vegetarian for about 5 months now and have absolutely no regrets about it. My husband and I are now happier and healthier than ever!
My favorite things to cook
Although I've taken the healthy route in cooking "real" food, I can't stop myself from baking cakes. I try not to do it too often but whenever I find a neat recipe I just HAVE to try it out. Other than that I love experimenting with new vegetarian meals and turning old recipes into vegetarian by using meat alternatives. Italian is my absolute favorite type of food but Mexican runs a close second.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well, mom never really cooked. Her gourmet meal would have to be Hamburger Helper. That's seriously all she would ever cook. My dad on the other hand is a grill king! He will grill anything he can get his hands on. He takes great pride in his cooking and will not let anyone leave his house without trying something. I've recently challenged him to surprise me with an awesome vegetarian meal and I think he's still struggling with that...lol. Hmmm...I guess all that's not really cooking traditions, but oh well.
My cooking triumphs
Every time someone gets up for seconds I know I've succeeded. My favorite recipe I've created (and also a fave of all my friends) is a pasta full of vegetables and topped with alfredo. I'm going to have to figure that out in recipe form and put it on here.
My cooking tragedies
All tragedies are taken very personally and never repeated. I don't know why I take it so hard, but I do. I amost set my apartment on fire once when toasting coconut...the stench wasn't very pleasant.
