BLT Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
We LOVED it. Due to the tomato/salmonella scare I didn't use tomatoes. However, I did use diced red bell pepper in it's place. Very delicious! Can't wait to use tomatoes another time.

Alfredo Mostaccioli

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
I fixed this recipe exactly as listed except I used penne pasta. My family was VERY happy with it. The sauce definitely thickens when allowed to rest once it is combined with the pasta.

We love this recipe. It's a very simple, soothing comfort food. I also tried it one time using breakfast sausage. Loved it!

Slow-Cooked, Texas-Style Beef Brisket

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
I cooked for only 6 people so my brisket weighed only 2.5 lbs. I adjusted the amounts for everything else to suit the size including the time. I cooked it on high for 2 hours in my crockpot, and then I turned it to Low for 6 hours. It was tender and DELICIOUS!

Cinnamon Sweet Potato Slices

Loved it! I followed the directions exactly, and it was a hit. It's a nice alternative to the marshmellow variety.

Spiced Ham Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
I forgot to marinade the ham steak so I followed the variation a previous reviewer used. I pour the marinade over the ham steak and baked in the oven at 400F for 30 minutes. I, also, had to use peach nectar instead of pineapple juice because it happen to be on hand. My family loved this recipe; it made for great fall flavors. Maybe next time I'll try to marinade and grill as the directions said. Either way, I will definitely make it again.

Peppered Bacon and Tomato Linguine

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
I made this exactly as shown, and it's o.k. I think next time I will use fresh tomatoes and saute mushroom slices with the onion and garlic. I would also like to toss some peas into dish.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I took the advice of a previous reviewer and marinated the chops all day. The pork chops were greatly enjoyed by everyone. My husband said, "good pork chops" and he hates pork chops. I think I might try using apple pie filling for those days when I want a quick dinner solution.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
Living in Florida I miss my hometown Chicago. This recipe helped bring a bit of that home. I followed a few suggestions from other reviewers such as beef broth instead of water and 2 pkgs of Italien dressing seasoning. Everything else followed the recipe exactly. This was a HUGE hit with my family(even the kids!). Can't wait to eat the leftovers.

Potato Chip Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
We loved this recipe;it has great comfort food appeal. We thought that it would also be good with a small can of fried onions sprinkled on top instead of potato chips.

Apple Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
The flavor is delicious, but the brown sugar gave a brownish color to the salad. That color change put off my husband and son who are my cole slaw eaters. They said they felt like they were eating old cabbage. Such a shame because the flavor is wonderful.

Quiche Lorraine II

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
My husband had two huge pieces after he told me he doesn't like quiche. He just smiled and shrugged his sholders as he kept eating. The kids liked it alot. I didn't have swiss cheese so I used shredded sharp cheddar.
