Bourbon and Molasses-Glazed Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2014
Wow doesn't cover it. This had such a fantastic flavor. I couldn't find the smaller breast at any of my local stores, so I went ahead and got an 8lb. breast. I didnt change the proportions of the marinade/glaze, but I lowered the oven to 325. I'm planning to try this on the grill with chicken this summer.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
This was very flavorful, moreso than I expected with only 3 ingredients! So easy to make. My only recommendation is to cut back on the salt by about half a tbsp (to start, may need more) only because the meat did come out a little too salty for me.

Creamy Ham Turnovers

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
Wonderful recipe! I did make a few changes. I left out the onion (food allergy) and the celery, but added 1/2 pack of sliced mushrooms, torn, and 1c. shredded cheddar cheese. Everyone in my house loved these, and i get begged to make these every weekend!

Carrot Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
This one is a solid 3 for me. It wasn't difficult to prepare, but it just had an OK flavor. I can't think of a dish this would go well with, other than plain chicken or pork, just to have a jazzier side dish. It wasn't bland, but for me, the flavors just didn't mesh well. I probably won't make again, but if I do, I might replace the water with Chicken Broth, just to give the rice a smoother background for the spices, carrots and nuts.

Smoky Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2014
I enjoyed the flavor, but may try baking them, as another reviewer suggested. I thought they were delicious, but my other half felt they were a little too spicy. Also, I used the measurements given, and followed the instructions listed and had NO trouble with the consistancy of the rub or any issues with it sticking to the chops.

Classy Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
This was absolutely, hands down, fantastic. It wasn't difficult to make and had so much flavor you would have thought I'd spent much more time in the kitchen. I will admit, I did unintentinally screw up one ingredient. My grocery sells jars of sun dried tomatoes along with jar'd bruschetta. I thought I'd grabbed tomatoes, but no. Since I was at the add it to the pan stage, I just went ahead and added what I estimated to be able 5 chopped sun dried tomatoes worth of the bruschetta. Oh my goodness! I cannot imagine doing this dish with anything else now. Please try it, because believe me, you won't be disappointed!

Grilled Spicy Lamb Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2014
These were fantastic. Definitely a little spicy (almost too much for me, but my other half loved!). I was told that it was "restaurant quality", something he'd expect from one of our high end burger places. I did make a couple of minor changes. Due to rain, I was unable to grill, so I cooked for 5 min. on the George Foreman grill, set to med/high. These were done. I like mine a little more on the rare side, so I will probably reduce the time if I cook them like that again. Also, I used Naan Bread instead of pita bread, and folded it over. It was absolutely delicious. We added spinach leaves and tomato slices. I didn't need anything else, but I have it on good autority that this was also fabulous with horseradish. :)

One-Dish Chicken, Vegetable and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
Not great.... The veggies came out very mushy, the chicken wouldn't finish cooking and the whole thing had to bake for 30-45min more (and the pieces in the center still were't really done). I was disappointed, the whole thing smelled so good! With some tweaking, I might be able to make it work, but if you're looking for something to make tonight, find something else.

Cheesy Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
This recipe was ok. I had to omit the onion and green pepper (food allergy), so it was a touch on the bland side. It could have used WAY more cheese, hardly a cheesy flavor at all. The spinich mixture turned out ok, but could have been a lot better with alfredo sauce. The veggies did alright, but they were still a little firm. Didn't seem like it heated all the way through in the oven, but cheese on top was almost burnt. Probably won't do again, but made an ok meal.

NO YOLKS® Creamy Chicken Noodle Casserole

Quick and easy, made the house smell wonderful, and the leftovers heated up well. Definitely a good weeknight recipe or good for being snowed in

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2014
This was delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was that the sauce didn't thicken up quite the way I expected it to and there was not as much lemon flavor as I was expecting, but I have ideas to fix both the next time I make it. I will definitely start the sauce earlier, giving it more time to reduce, I get it about 20 min, but it wasn't enough. I'll also probably add a little more lemon juice, just to punch it up. As to what other reviewers have said about the pepperieness of the dish... Don't believe it's overpowering. It's not. Yes, there is a pepper flavor, on the strong side, but it is not extrememly spicy or inedible. You won't have to take a drink after each bite, as I have with some recipes, you just get a pepper flavor to the dish. Try it as written first, then make changes the next time. This one is very good as is.

Baked French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2014
I followed another reviewer's advice, 6 eggs, 2 cups 1/2&1/2, cinnamon and vanilla, and this turned out very well. My only complaint was that it didn't get as "done" as I like my french toast. The center was still fairly runny. The topping, however, is amazing, and really saved the dish.

Grilled Cornish Game Hens

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2014
I'll start by saying I had to bake my birds, due to rain. I split them up the breast before putting them in the marinade, letting them sit overnight, and turning in the morning. They turned out fantastically. I cooked at 375, and basted at 15 min. intervals until done, about 1.5 hours. The birds had a great citrusy flavor all the way through without taking away from the flavor of the meat.

Shrimp and Pasta Shell Salad

Reviewed: May 27, 2014
We absolutely loved this, I think it's going to be one of my new summer goto recipes. I did make a couple small changes. I omitted the red pepper (food allergy) and substituted 1 chopped tomato, and because I forgot the celery, I substituted a diced zucchini (because I had one in the fridge) and it was fantastic. The entire batch only lasted about 3 days in my house.

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
These were delicious! They actually came out a little spicer than I was expecting the cumin and cayanne to make them. I followed the recipe as is, and these made for a wonderful side. Make sure to check your rice, mine was a touch (just a touch) on the crunchy side. I'm not just going to use this as a side though, this is going into my next taco or burrito night!

Spinach and Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
Very very tasty! It was nice to find a good, non mayonaise or oil based pasta salad! I ended up using a larger can of whole olives that I halved, since it was already in the pantry. The only issue that I ran into was that the thawed frozen spiniach tended to clump. Might use fresh next time, but there will definitely be a next time!

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2014
This is a family favorite. I follow the directions exactly, no changes needed, but I always end up cooking for the max amount of time. I was so happy to finally find a recipe that didn't call for raisins. I end up having to make my brother his own loaf for his birthday every year, and it never seems to last him more than a couple of days. When I make at home, my husband and i seem to devour in two days as well, I love it with just butter, but he's asked me to include that this is amazing with peanut butter as well.

Chinese Roast Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2014
A all day slow cooker pork roast as is. I usually use a shoulder roast, with or without the bone, depending on price and what I can find, and follow the directions exactly. Easy to throw together in the morning before you head out the door or the night before and let it marinate in the fridge over night.

Stuffed Eggplant

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2015
I enjoyed this quite a bit, it was very filling, but there was almost too much stuffing. I added olive oil at the end, due to it being on the dry side, but i think I would have had to add a lot more. The only reason I can think of that made it dry was that I used sweet Italian turkey sausage instead of pork. Next time I'lltry with pork and add some mmushrooms.

Grandma's Gingerbread Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2014
These are delicious and always make the house smell so wonderful! A go to for cold mornings that take almost no time to whip up and have a rich flavor. I've serverd these with maple syrup or with a bourbon glaze sauce and both were fantastic.
