Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2014
Very quick and easy to make and very tasty. I had concerns that the sauce wouldn't be thick enough when i poured it from the pan, it was awfully runny, but it thickened right up once it was mixed with the cheese. Definitely a keeper!

Angela's Alfredo Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
I really enjoyed this. We started with salad, and it was quick and easy to make. I used about half a pound of cubed ham instead of sliced ham, but it seemed like it turned out really well and made it even quicker.

Shrimp Scampi with Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2014
Not bad. Very easy to make, but a little on the bland side for me. Too much pasta, not enough sauce. More sauce may help, but I think the sauce may still be a little bland for the dish.

Chicken Breasts in Caper Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2014
Loved this one! My only negative was that it was a touch on the salty side, but that is easily fixed! Quick and delicious, just remember though, your cooking times may vary based on the thickness of your chicken. Mine took much longer than the time recommended, and I covered the skillet for part of that to help keep moist. My other half wanted more sauce, but again, easily fixable. I definitely recommend!

Drunken Shrimp

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2014
This was quick and easy to make, and it smelled wonderful while it was cooking, but that's where it ended. All we could taste was spice, we didn't get any of the other flavors, and were really diappointed we couldn't get the beer flavor. Definitely will not make again.

Slow Cooker Apple Cider Braised Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2014
This had a very good flavor and cooked up very well. The only issue I had was with the sauce. Even once it was reduced and the butter was added, it never thickened up the way I thought it would. It was too late to try to add cornstarch or flour to thicken it up, but I'd keep an eye on it for next time, and make sure you have thickeners at the ready!

Havana Slow Cooker Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2014
This was absolutely delicious. We sliced off what we wanted for dinner that night, and shredded the rest for sandwiches later on in the week. The spice combo gave it a good, strong flavor with a little kick, and the meat was flavored all the way through.

Mark's Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2014
This was really, really tasty. Based on other reviews, I expected it to be "like that seafood chain's spicy shrimp appetizer". It was close, but my sauce seemed to turn out a little sweeter and there seemed to be a lot more sauce than was needed. I turned the whole thing into a meal and served it over rice noodles. I definitely plan to make this again, but with some modifications to the sauce.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2014
This was absolutely delicious. I made 2 very minor changes to the recipe, I used dried minced onion instead of fresh (food allergy) and, being from Kentucky, it's not chili without spaghetti, so I threw a small handfull in right at the end. A couple of notes. This was a touch on the spicy side for us, when I make this again, I will make a double batch, and double everything EXCEPT the spices. Also, I was on the fence about adding the spaghetti at the end, but my chili was still very runny and hadn't thickened up much. That small amount of pasta did the trick and it was a much thicker consistancy after.

Poached Fish with Cucumbers

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2014
I was afraid that the sauce would be overpowering on this one, but I was very wrong. The sauce was delicious, but we ended up liking it more on the plain pasta then we did on the fish. I'd never poached anything before, but it was amazingly easy.

Slow Cooker Chicken Parisienne

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2014
This could be a very good dish with a little tweaking. I felt that it was somewhat bland, as written, and if I make again, will add at least garlic. The sauce didn't thicken at all, and remained runny. The dish had an ok flavor, but nothing spectacular or anything to make it pop.

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2014
This was delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was that the sauce didn't thicken up quite the way I expected it to and there was not as much lemon flavor as I was expecting, but I have ideas to fix both the next time I make it. I will definitely start the sauce earlier, giving it more time to reduce, I get it about 20 min, but it wasn't enough. I'll also probably add a little more lemon juice, just to punch it up. As to what other reviewers have said about the pepperieness of the dish... Don't believe it's overpowering. It's not. Yes, there is a pepper flavor, on the strong side, but it is not extrememly spicy or inedible. You won't have to take a drink after each bite, as I have with some recipes, you just get a pepper flavor to the dish. Try it as written first, then make changes the next time. This one is very good as is.

Grandma's Gingerbread Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2014
These are delicious and always make the house smell so wonderful! A go to for cold mornings that take almost no time to whip up and have a rich flavor. I've serverd these with maple syrup or with a bourbon glaze sauce and both were fantastic.

Chicken In Basil Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2014
This was very good, fairly quick to make, but watch your cooking times on the chicken. I used thicker breasts which took longer. I made no changes to the recipe. The sauce was fantastic. If I can give you one piece of advice or change to make, it's to double the sauce. You'll thank me later.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
This was very flavorful, moreso than I expected with only 3 ingredients! So easy to make. My only recommendation is to cut back on the salt by about half a tbsp (to start, may need more) only because the meat did come out a little too salty for me.

Shrimp Po' Boys

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
These were fantastic! My other half swears that these tasted as much like the ones as he had in New Orleans as any he's had. And we love the sauce! We've carried it over to may other dishs. Prep takes a little time, and can be a little messy, but the result is worth it. The only changes I made were to how the bread was toasted. I softend butter and mixed in the garlic, buttered the split rolls, and toasted them on my griddle pan, instead of baking while i was frying the shrimp.

Creamy Slow Cooker Marsala Pork

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
This one was more of a 3.5 for me. It wasn't bad and was pretty easy to make, it just wasn't stellar. I may keep it around for the future, but I don't forsee having a real craving to make this again.

Stuffed Alfredo Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2014
This was such a great idea, I can't believe I've never thought to do something like this before. Different, but very filling and tasty. I did make a couple small changes but I believe they really added to it. I believe I used twice as many mushrooms, Bertoli Classic Alfredo with Mushroom Sauce instead of Classico, a 10oz bag of fresh spinach (instead of measuring out 6 cups), and I added 2 bags of Tyson precooked cubed chicken (just to make it a full meal) in between sauteing the mushrooms and adding the spinach. While I was wilting the spinach, I gave it a few good sprinklings of garlic powder. These have already been requested as an upcoming meal at my house!

Portobello Mushroom Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2014
This was delicious. I did what another reviewer suggested and left the mushrooms in the broth while it was cooking down to add flavor. I was surpised by how quick and easy it was to make and how much flavor it had. I will definitely be making again!

Grilled Mongolian Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2014
This was delicious. It was so full of flaor, just a little spicy, a nice change! I didn't grill due to weather, but I cooked under the broiler until done. My other half asked for seconds, and that was a first!
