About this Cook
Even though I was born in Massachusetts, I have been raised entirely in the South, which means I like my food filling and full of carbs, fats, and sugars. I am super thankful for my genetics, which have gifted me an amazing metabolism. No low fat, diet, or light anything for this gal! I have a son and a daughter very nearly as crazy as me. We have good times together. I recently moved to California and find that the eating habits out here are significantly different from the food back east. It's been an interesting ride.
My favorite things to cook
Lately I love the easy-to-do dinners because my plate is full (pun much intended) between single motherhood, dating (yikes--I said the D word), and work. I'm planning to add Air Force Reserves and school to that list soon, so . . . yeah, wish me some kind of luck or something.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm a bake-and-sender. I mail food gifts fairly frequently throughout the year.
My cooking triumphs
Anything new and well-executed is a great triumph to me. I love new flavors or new ways to prepare/serve old favorites.
My cooking tragedies
One day I'm going to get good at pastry. Honest. When I have the patience to learn it.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
Can I give this more stars? It's perfect as written! The second time I made it I added a half cup of unsweetened cocoa and it was amazingly delicious. So easy and quick to prepare. The hardest part is waiting for it to cool long enough to not burn your tongue when you eat it. And as the recipe contributor said, it's even better on Day 2. I gave a ton of these out as gifts on Thanksgiving and everyone raved and raved about how good it was. Perfection. Thanks so much. I will be using this year after year. (Update: I have been using this recipe for a solid four years now, and I have ALWAYS received requests for more loaves from anyone who receives one.)

I made this recipe as-is for Thanksgiving and it was delicious. I had no trouble with it at all. :) Thanks a bunch!
