Auntie Willie's Dutch Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
This pie just did not turn out! The dough was a wet mess, and I probably needed a deep dish pie pan which was not stated in the recipe. The sugar topping did not leave the crunch I was expecting.

Bubba's Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
This is so delicious I made it 3 times in 1 week! I used turkey sausage, deli ham and leftover chicken and it came out wonderful! Be sure to measure the Cajun Seasoning as directed or it will be "woo-wee" HOT!

Apple Fritters

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2007
We really enjoyed these fritters! I actually fried them in a large pot with 1/2 inch canola oil on the stove over medium heat. Only fry 3 or 4 at one time, though. If they look like they are done frying on both sides, fry a few minutes more to assure doneness. Mine were a little underdone. i also added a couple of TBS. cinnamon to batter and glazed the fritters with a glaze I made out of 2 cups powdered sugar mixed with a little orange juice until it was medium - thin. Just put about 1 TSP. glaze on fritter and let it run down over it. Let set about 20 mins. YUMMY!

Power Bars

These are so good even my kids ate them! I give them these bars as an after school snack, and it tides them over til dinner and gives them a healthy dose of fiber, too. Very addicting!

Chocolate Shell Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
Tastes like Magic Shell! Even better than the original! I heated the ingredients in the micro. for 60 seconds on high and stirred until blended. I dished up ice cream in bowls, poured on this sauce and stuck it in the freezer for 5 mins. to speed up the hardening process.

Chocolate Scotcheroos

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
This recipe is super! I have been making this one for years. When you press the cereal mixture into pan, use a flat metal lasagna spatula sprayed lightly with cooking spray and press mixture down firmly. Another good tip is to spray cooking spray into measuring cup for adding corn syrup! It slides right out! Also, line measuring cup for peanut butter with plastic wrap and there is no mess!

Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
This is the exact ice cream cake recipe that has been in our family for 50 years! I gave this a 4 star rating because it lacks a great frosting! My grandma made this same exact cake, but she used thawed Cool Whip plain, or flavored it with maraschino cherry juice mixed in for a frosting. Then she topped the cake with additional paper towel dried maraschino cherries. Wrap cake in waxed paper and freeze. Yummy!

Fresh Cherry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2007
This cobbler is easy to make. The topping is a little too buttery and softer than I expected. Served warm with a scoop of ice cream made it taste better. I used Bing cherries instead because they are more readily accessible. It was good, and I might try it again.

Ginny's Cheezy Macaroni

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2007
This mac and cheese is simple and tasty. Being a busy school teacher and mom of two "hungry all the time kids", this was brilliant. One batch of this was enough to feed 4 generously. Pair with a veggie and enjoy the "oohs and ahhs"!
