About this Cook
I'm an English language teacher in Japan, who missed certain foods so much I had to learn how to cook them. With a wife and infant daughter, cooking quickly and healthily has become more important.
My favorite things to cook
Breads, stews, soups, sauces, roasts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, I always did my homework in the kitchen as my mother cooked. Without knowing it, I learned a lot. Now, I cook like she does - simple, healthy, wholesome foods. Soda breads, stews, soups, roasts.
My cooking triumphs
A special kind of brownie - I must put the recipe on this site. Cooking Christmas dinner for 6 skeptical Japanese people, and succeeding.
My cooking tragedies
Omelets. I just can't get them right.

Extra Easy Hummus
Maybe too much garlic, but otherwise really nice. I've made this loads of times.

Aw-some Coleslaw
Excellent and simple. Like others I halved the sugar and it was fine. Keeps well for a few days too. Add a handful of seeds (sesame/sunflower) for a crunch.

Cucumber-Cilantro Raita (Yogurt)
Good! A nice balance of flavours. Second time round I added 1 clove of very finely diced garlic, which I thought worked well.
