Chef John's Quiche Lorraine

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2014
This was a very tasty quiche! I pretty much followed the recipe to a T, but did use my own pie crust recipe, added an extra egg (was using a deep dish pie plate), and used a combo of cheddar, provolone and parmesan cheeses since I didn't have gruyere on hand - but would love to try it with gruyere next time!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
These were perfect! I prepared a traditional English afternoon tea menu for my by British mother-in-law and included these scones served with thick cream (Devonshire) and homemade strawberry preserves. She absolutely loved them and commented that they were probably the best she has ever had. They have a wonderful texture, slightly moister than regular tea biscuits due to the sour cream, but still dry enough that the addition of the cream and jam makes them perfectly delicious. I will be using this recipe again and again!

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2013
I had to make a few changes because I was whipping this together last minute so was using what I had on hand - used graham crackers to line the bottom of 13x9 pan instead of vanilla wafers and only had the smaller (4 serving) vanilla pudding mix so used less milk, about 2 1/2 cups. Also mixed the whole tub of cool whip into the mixture rather than putting it on the top. The was a complete hit with my family!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
I'm giving this recipe 5 stars based on two things. 1) My family LOVED it and raved about; and 2) I do not like salmon and could actually eat a small fillet of this. Can't say I changed anything with this recipe because when it comes to salmon, I wouldn't even know where to start to make it taste better. Thanks for giving me a recipe that means I don't have to cook a separate meal for myself anymore and can reap the health benefits of salmon.

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
This was sooo delicious. I used closer to 4 cups of strawberries - to use up what I had; For the topping I reduced the flour to 1 cup kept everything else the same except added a generous teaspoon of cinnamon. We loved this recipe, the perfect combo of tart and sweet. I always make my 'crunch' recipes in a deep casserole dish, not a baking pan; this one used the large French White dish and it was perfect. No complaints about too much topping from us - that's what makes a crunch a crunch!

Oven Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2012
I was a little skeptical about making scrambled eggs in the oven but Oh My am I ever glad I did! These were the fluffiest and most delicious scrambled eggs I have ever eaten! I used half and half instead of milk (only because I had some in the fridge that I needed to use up) and added some chopped ham after the first 10 minutes. Sprinkled with cheese before serving - fantastic!

Sweet and Sour Chicken III

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
Yummy and quick and easy to put together!! I followed another reviewers advice cooked the chicken in the hot oil with garlic and some fresh ginger just to brown. Removed the chicken and added the peppers and onion (also with garlic and fresh ginger);when tender, added the chicken back in with the pineapple. For the sauce, I doubled the vinegar and brown sugar. This recipe was excellent! Everyone loved it and thought it was restaurant quality. A great weeknight meal!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
This is absolutely delicious! Definitely the best bread pudding I've ever had. I used half&half instead of the milk, and used 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar. Served with rum sauce...yummy! Can't wait to have an excuse to make this again! Will definitely become a "go-to" dessert recipe. Thanks

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
These are fantastic but I did very slightly alter them. I added about a teaspoon of cinnamon to the dough in the bread machine and made about 1.5 times the filling recipe, blending together the cinnamon sugar WITH the butter before spreading on the rolled dough (a bit of a messy process but trust me...). They were taking a long time to rise, so after 40 minutes, I put them into a cold oven, set to 375F. When the oven reached temperature, I baked for 18 minutes - the results were perfect: big, slightly doughy (underbaked like cinnabon), ooey, gooey cinnamon buns!!

Green Bean and Mushroom Medley

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
This was a lovely and colorful side dish at my recent dinner party (main entree was prosciutto wrapped chicken breasts). I added a clove of garlic, minced, with the onion and used black pepper because I didn't have any white on hand.
