Sarah's Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
We liked it but the order you add ingredients seems off to me. I've made other pilafs and always start with the onion because that takes longest to cook. After the onion softens then I added the rice and orzo and when those were almost done toasting I added the garlic for a couple minutes, then the broth. But the proportions were good.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

First time I made this and I wanted to make sure it was good before I made two. We loved it and the drippings made great gravy!

Southwestern Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
We didn't really care for this soup. It smelled good while it was cooking but it just didn't taste very good. It might be the combination of turkey and tomatoes that didn't work for me, I'm not sure, but I didn't think it tasted very good. It did help to add crushed tortilla chips to the bowls and put some cheese and a little sour cream on it.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
Love this recipe! I used all chicken broth (I usually have some in the refrigerator or freezer) and added 2 beef bouillon cubes, to get the beef flavor. I've also made it with and without the mozzarella cheese, and I prefer it without.

Old-Fashioned Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
I really like the pudding but it took forever to get thick. After about 15 minutes I added another 1 tablespoon cornstarch (I had doubled the recipe) and it still didn't get very thick. It did thicken quite a bit after adding egg yolk and I loved the finished pudding. I doubled the recipe and added hot chocolate mix to part of it to make chocolate pudding (I was out of cocoa powder). That turned out good, too.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I really liked this. I only had green onions so used that instead of red onion. I may have used a little extra vinegar because I don't like to taste the mayo and thought the amount of sugar was just right. Thanks for the great recipe!

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
I don't usually use this cut of meat, so I needed a recipe because I bought some on sale and didn't know what to do with it. Unfortunately the garlic butter did nothing to tenderize the meat and even though I exactly followed the instructions it was tough. I plan to see if a recipe that calls for marinating the meat helps. The garlic butter whould probably taste ok on a better cut of steak.

Thanks for the great recipe! I used oil, added vanilla, cinnamon to the batter and blueberries, but think this recipe provided a great starting point.

Chicken Jerusalem II

My daughter (BLUE4MYEYES) has made this for me several times because I absolutely love it! She adds a little cornstarch at the end and the sauce is perfect. Thanks for a new family favorite!

Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
Thanks Teri Anne! I had some cauliflower and was looking for a cauliflower dish without so many calories, this was perfect! The only changes I made were a little red pepper flakes and I didn't want to open a whole box of broth so I mixed a little of a bouillon cube with water. Thanks again!

Quick Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
Disappointing. Used toasted sesame oil instead of miso (because I don't like it). Expected more flavor.

Loved your recipe. Left out the brown sugar and added a little balsamic vinegar instead. Quick, easy and tastes great.

Fettuccini Carbonara

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Wonderful, quick and easy! I omitted the olive oil and shallots, used 3 cloves of garlic, whole eggs instead of just yolks and half and half instead of cream. I added the cooked pasta to the pan I was cooking the bacon and onion mixture in, and stirred it around for a minute to make sure it was nice and hot. Then I poured the half and half mixture (I used extra) over the hot noodles and stirred around until it was hot and thickened. I just didn't like the idea of eatting the raw egg. Tastes great, and is even good at room temperature. Thanks for such a great recipe with simple ingredients, that I almost always have on hand!

Fried Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2007
I love this recipe. My only changes were to dip the artichoke in the egg mixture, then flour, egg mixture and bread crumbs, and I seasoned them with granulated garlic and cayenne. I also served them with lemon wedges. Great recipe but not even close to 24 servings. I only wish I'd read the review that recommended serving them with garlic butter. Next time for sure!
