Hi, I'm married with two grown children. I love to spend time in the kitchen baking. I guess I could be considered a recipe-aholic! I have more recipes than I'll ever be able to try. Even so, I have a hard time turning down a good cook book.
My favorite things to cook
Hubby does the cooking. Occasionally we prepare meals together, which can be a challenge. We have different cooking styles so have a tendancy to get on each other's nerve. :) He forgets the stove has a knob! I like cooking with wine and fruits and a variety of vegetables, he's a meat and potato kind of guy. So it's best he stick to the cooking and I stick to the baking. He's a picky eaty and I eat just about anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We try to make the holidays special. Hubby thinks I mess things up when I want to try a new recipe, though. We always manage to make way too much but then that just means there is plenty of food for everyone to take with them when they go hoome. Christmas is especially fun with the Christmas music playing while I spend the days baking and decorating.
My cooking triumphs
I grew up helping my mother on baking days by greasing the pans, measuring the dry ingredients, etc. but wasn't allowed to use the mixer. I was 10 when I made my first scratch cake for my mother on her birthday since she was in the hospital. I mixed it all by hand. My mom thought it turned out just as good as when she made it.
My cooking tragedies
The icing to my first cake turned out gritty but we ate it anyway.
