Chinese Pearl Meatballs

great recipe! I made this recipe without the onion (bf doesn't like onions), but everything else as written and it turned out great with good flavor. it's hard to find good Chinese food out here in Colorado, so I was glad to find this recipe so I can at least make some good Chinese at home. thanks for the recipe!

Spinach Brownies

delicious! the only thing is, in my haste to make this recipe & devour it as quickly as possible, i overlooked the "lightly grease the pan" step (doh!). well, that won't stop me from scraping every last crumb from the pan! i only did 2 things differently: 1) i sauteed the onions & the spinach together, rather than boiling them, & 2) i mixed black pepper into the batter right before pouring it into the pan. i'll definitely be making this recipe again in the future, maybe adding in garlic as other reviewers have suggested, & experimenting with different cheeses. a wonderfully tasty way of getting in another serving of vegetables!

Steakhouse Black Bread

i had high hopes for this recipe & it just turned out ok...based upon other reviews, i halved the molasses to 1/8c & substituted the other 1/8c with honey, & i made sure not to make the coffee too strong. i followed the recipe as written otherwise, & made it in my bread maker with none of the stickiness issues that others had noted. i think i'll try the recipe again, but will add another 2tbsp of brown sugar like others have advised to help the flavor.

Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

these turned out pretty well! i made the addition of an extra tablespoon of peanut butter and left out the salt, but otherwise, followed the rest as written. a lot of reviewers wrote about increasing the pumpkin to a cup, but a few wrote about how that made the dough too sticky/difficult to work with. i started out with the recommended half cup and it seemed fine...definitely made a stiff dough, but you need it that consistency if you want to be able to roll it out easily. i used fresh pureed pumpkin, so that may have made the dough easier to work with since it's not as dry as the canned variety...i would suggest starting with the 1/2c and adding more as you go until you get a consistency you like. i whisked everything but the flour together, then used a wooden spoon to incorporate the flour and then my hands to knead it a bit before rolling out. i have 2 little dogs, 1 of which is a slightly picky eater who doesn't typically like biscuits. i was surprised that she ate it, although she didn't seem too excited about it...the other 1 gobbled them up :) i only baked mine for about 1/2 an hour and they didn't come out completely hard (partially because i thought the picky eater wouldn't like them as much if they were hard), so i'm not sure how these will keep...

Mexican Bean Salad

A good recipe for a make-once, eat-all-week lunch. I'm not usually a fan of beans/bean salads, but I thought I'd give this a try since it seemed healthy and filling while still being convenient and easy. After making it last night and having a portion for lunch today, I've added this one to my recipe box to make again. While I wouldn't rave about this as some others have, the flavors are interesting enough that I don't think I'll get sick of it even after eating it all week (a problem I have a lot with eat-all-week lunches). I followed the recipe as written, but didn't add any hot sauce/chili powder since I can't handle the heat! As almost all others have noted, the amount of dressing is a little excessive/unnecessary so I'll probably cut that in half next time. Otherwise, I thought the flavors were good and I wouldn't change a thing.

Oatmeal Pudding Cookies

very good, although i made a few changes. i didn't have butter-flavored shortening, so i just used butter. per other reviews, i also used butterscotch pudding to help with the flavor, and added chocolate chips instead of raisins. they didn't spread in the oven very much at all, wish i'd known that beforehand so i could've spaced them a little closer together :) next time i'll probably flatten them a bit before baking. i wound up baking mine for about 18miuntes...i couldn't really tell whether they were done or not at the 12minute mark, so i kept checking periodically. delicious right out of the oven, and still nice and chewy once they've cooled. different than your average oatmeal cookie...i'll hold onto the recipe to pull out occasionally, but i think i'll keep looking for my go-to oatmeal cookie recipe.

Coconut Almond Cookies

Good cookies, although I made a few changes and will make more if/when I decide to try these again. Instead of 1c of butter, I did 1/2c butter and 1/2c apple sauce...I didn't want super greasy cookies. Instead of the 2tbsp of water, I did 2tbsp of milk, because...well, I just thought it was odd to add water to cookies. I added an extra teaspoon of almond extract, since I was really wanting the almond flavor to come out in these cookies...since the recipe didn't specify how much salt to add, I just put in 1/4tsp, but I think would up it to a 1/2tsp instead to make the almond flavoring more pronounced. In the future, I'd also reduce the amount of baking powder to 1/2tsp, since I prefer a chewier cookie. So...quite a few little changes here and there, but overall a good cookie that I would try again.
