Apple Turnovers

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
These were great and so easy to make. I diced the apples instead of slicing, but other than that, followed the recipe exactly. My husband, who is notorious for not liking baked goods, ate two in one sitting.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I've been using this recipe for several years now and the rolls always turn out great. My family looks forward to them each holiday! To make my rolls even softer, I let the dough rest in the bread machine when the cycle completes for about an hour, roll them out, and let them rise for another 2 or 3 hours (if time allows). You can also make them and roll them out a day ahead of time, wrap them tight with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight. Amazing recipe that could not be any easier!

White Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
I thought they were just "okay." I took mine out of the oven after 8 minutes. They have a good, soft texture, but the flavor isn't great. Maybe some melted chocolate chips or bakers chocolate to give it a "smoother" chocolate taste would help.

Mint Chocolate Cookie Crunch

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
Super easy to make. I used Nestle dark chocolate & mint chips and left out the extract. I think the mint taste is perfect doing it this way. I used a cookie scoop; I only got 36 doing it this way, but it took hardly any time. Definitely recommend putting in the fridge to let the chocolate set.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
I made this recipe as written, plus a little butter in the slow cooker as others had suggested. The flavor was very good and it couldn't have been easier to fix, but it turned out very dry (I had to use gravy on mine, which I never do). Next time I'll definitely add some chicken stock to keep it from drying out.

Poppy Seed Bread with Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
This was a great recipe; I've been looking for a poppy seed bread that wasn't lemon based and was glad to find this recipe. I was a little concerned when I saw how thin the batter was, but it baked into a very light, moist bread. I thought the bread itself was plenty sweet, so I left off the glaze (I'd suggest only using the glaze if you intend to use this recipe as a dessert). For those of you who have had trouble finding the butter flavored extract, try the cake decorating section of Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Wal Mart.

Pecan Turtles® Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
I made these to take to a friend and, after trying them, decided they weren't good enough to take. I followed other reviews and changed the flour to 2 cups and doubled the caramel mixture. These were WAY too sweet--the crust layer was incredibly sweet and grainy. I was so disappointed. I usually try a recipe twice before writing it off, but I don't think I'll give this one a second chance.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This is a great recipe. For my husband and I, I half the recipe and it's still plenty for a meal and leftovers. For personal preference, I omit the green chiles. I've made it as written (except the chiles) several times and it's great. I most recently substituted black beans for refried and added frozen corn to the mixture before simmering. I liked the extra color and texture that added.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
This is a great, very simple recipe--perfect for a busy weeknight. The first time I made these, we thought they were too sweet, so I adjusted the recipe to double everything (for a family of 3) except the brown sugar. I also added 1/4tsp of some chili garlic paste (found in the Asian food aisle) to cut the sweetness, which it didn't without making the sauce spicy. It's not necessary to let this simmer for 30-40 minutes; I let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes and it was thick enough and flavors had blended well. We will definitely be making this often.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
I thought this was just okay. It definitely doesn't have the flavor of chicken & dumplings made from scratch, but it's not bad when you're in a hurry. I used frozen chicken breasts cut into bite size pieces and substituted 1 can of the soup for cream of celery. I also used 2 cups of chicken broth (made from bouillon) instead of the water. I cooked it on low for 8 hours, throwing the biscuits in for the last 2 hours. It cooked up perfectly, but the flavor was just average.

Grilled Halibut II

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
I typically don't like fish, but this is a recipe I'll make again. I thought it was a good, very easy, basic recipe. I added 1/2 tsp. sea salt and 1/2 tsp. fresh cracked black pepper to the marinade. Then I put the fish in a Ziploc bag, poured in the marinade, and shook gently to coat. The marinade had a good flavor, but wasn't overpowering, which I liked. Watch the cooking time--be sure that you get the center of the fish to at least 145 degrees. We had our gas grill preheated to medium heat and it took us about 8 minutes per side.

Glazed Pork Chop

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
We really did not enjoy this recipe. First off, you really need to cook these for at least 40 minutes to make sure they're done. The pork chops came out very tender and were certainly easy to make with ingredients we had on hand, but they had very little flavor. I don't think we'll try to make these again.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
These are a huge hit each time I make them--I always have to make sure I have copies of the recipe printed to share. My husband, who really doesn't eat a lot of baked goods, asks me to make these all the time. I used other reviewers' tips and used the miniature peanut butter cups and also put them in the freezer before baking--great idea! Tip: following the cooking time suggested, cookies won't look completely done when you pull them out, but let them set up a bit and they'll be perfect, chewy cookies. Other than that, I follow the recipe exactly and they turn out great. Thanks for the recipe.

Peach Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2005
These are very good muffins. I followed other users' advice and added a half cup of milk to the batter, which helped. The first time I made these they burned around the edges, so the next time I used paper baking cups to line the pans and cooked them for just 20 minutes; they turned out perfect. I definitely recommend using fresh peaches rather than canned. These muffins have a great texture and aren't too sweet. Thanks for sharing!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2003
This recipe is fantastic! By far the best cinnamon rolls I have made. I did not have a bread machine, but followed the advice of other reviews and let the dough rise in the oven. It works perfectly. The only change I would suggest is to cut back a little on the amount of butter for the filling. I would not double the amount of icing, as others have suggested, I found this amount to be more than enough. Other than that, these are perfect and they smell SOOO good when they're cooking! Thanks for sharing.

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
This recipe had a very good flavor. I fixed in the crock pot, which made the beef tips very tender. It was also nice to have dinner fixed and not have to mess with it after a long day! Very easy recipe!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2003
I have been addicted to the boxed pancake mix for years, but not anymore! This recipe was every bit as easy as the box mixes and MUCH better. Turned out light and fluffy and delicious. Cooked faster than what I was used to. Thanks for sharing!

Broccoli Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2002
My husband and I really love this recipe, as do all of my friends that I have shared it with. This is a great way to use up those holiday leftovers, we substitute turkey for chicken--much better than turkey sandwiches.
