Cafeteria Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
This was SO good. I only gave the recipe 4 stars because I, like other reviewers, added cinnamon and nutmeg and felt like it would have been somewhat bland without these additions. I also cut the sugar to 3/4 cup, but I don't think it would have been too sweet with the whole cup (but I love sweet things). I will definitely make this again.

I doubled the juice/oil and used garlic and herb feta. Delicious and healthy, will definitely make again.

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
These are amazing. I almost always find pork to be dry or tough, but these were tender and juicy! I served them over rice and can't wait to try them again over egg noodles.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
Delicious! I did add some cumin and chili powder though because we like our food with lots of spice. Even my husband liked it and he usually won't eat black beans. I will definitely make this again.

ViVi's Bacon and Tomato Soup

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
delish! The only change I made was to add black pepper and italian seasoning because the broth was a bit bland without it. I will definitely be making this again.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I usually end up increasing the spices and adding a little vanilla, but otherwise make as written. FANTASTIC! I always get compliments when I make this bread.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I used half shortening and half butter (love the butter taste, but shortening seems to set better) and it turned out perfect. It was delicious and set well. This is my new go-to recipe for buttercream frosting, thanks!

Everyone loved this cake. My husband ate half of it by himself! I substituted oats for the what germ and used half white sugar and half brown. Yum!

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
These are always a hit and I am always asked for the recipe when I bring them somewhere. I use 1 lb. of raw almonds, double the topping (I use 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar), and stir every 20 minutes until done.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
AMAZING. The only change I make is to add some cayenne to the flour mixture for a little kick, but they are also delicious as written. My husband gets really excited when I tell him I am going to make these with dinner!

Magic Wands

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I used Wilton's candy melts (no idea how frosting would harden enough not to make these a sticky mess) and they turned out super cute and very tasty. I brought them to a Halloween party and got a ton of compliments. Thanks for the cute idea!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

The dough is a little hard to work with, but so worth it. The cookies turn out delicious every time and I am always asked for the recipe when I bring these anywhere.

Chewy White Chocolate Chip Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
These are super delicious and chewy. The first time I made them (as written) they fell apart because there were so many chocolate chips, so I halved the amount in the second batch and they stayed together much better. These are a little hard to get off the cookie sheet without mutilating them, so I used parchment paper and just slid the entire sheet off of the cookie sheet until they cooled and they turned out great.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I looooooooooooove this soup! I usually increase the bacon (5-6 strips), add some sour cream to make it thicker, and increase the garlic. I also stir the cheese into the soup and let it melt into the sauce. SO GOOD.

My husband and I both love this soup. I usually increase the amount of macaroni because we love pasta, but this soup is delicious and extremely easy to make as written. Perfect for winter nights.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
AMAZING. I used all white pepper, omitted the extra salt, and replaced some of the water with one can of chicken broth. This soup was to die for. My husband, who generally does not like soup for dinner, loved this and went back for seconds.

Mama's Asian Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
This was pretty dang good, but a little sweet (and I LOVE sugar/anything sweet). Next time I will cut back on the brown sugar, but it was otherwise very good. I also doubled the sauce as other reviewers suggested and definitely recommend that others do the same. It was very saucy, but one batch wouldn't have been enough to pour over the rice.
