Creole Chicken I

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2007
I gave 4 stars because it had a lot of potential. I left out the green pepper-didn't have it on hand. Added a chopped celery rib, 1 chopped onion, substitued a can of Ro-tel Mexican style tomatoes for the big can of tomatoes and paste. It was plenty juicy for us. Added a cup of chopped okra and 3 minced garlic cloves. Preheated my crockpot on high while I browned my chicken, then browned my sausage and veggies and poured over the chicken. It cut the cooking time by one hour by doing that. Also, used creole seasoning instead of salt. It tasted more like gumbo.

Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
This syrup was wonderful.I love anything with buttermilk in it, and this was great. After reading other reviews, I left out the cinnamon because I wanted maple, added 1/2 tsp. maple extract along with the vanilla, and also added 1 tsp. of cornstarch to help speed up the thickening. I didn't have much time to let it cool and set up. And I used brown sugar instead of white. It tasted like a buttermilk praline!!! Maybe next time I'll add some chopped pecans. I didn't use quite as much soda as it called for and couldn't see where it made much difference.

Campbell's® Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
i know i'm in the minority here, but doing this to a green bean should be illegal. i can eat green beans cold out of the can, but nothing else but curry can turn my stomach like this "holiday classic".

Apple Butter II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! This is the best apple butter i've ever had. And the comment dissing using applesauce instead of 'homemade' was uncalled for. Just someone with a superiority complex. This product is incredible. I didn't change a thing and it was tart/tangy/sweet/mouthwatering. You won't regret trying this. And yes, the suggestion of stirring every 45 min. in from the corners helped alot. Thanks for this recipe diane!

Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
This was wonderful!! I had lost a recipe for this pie by Paula Deen and was so happy to find one here! Incredible...used the Apple Butter II recipe by diane off this site. Always get requests for this recipe. We personally like it better without the streusel, but that's just us. It's still an awesome pie.

Pork Chop Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2013
Tried this last night and loved it. I left out the oregano (simply missed it in the list) and doubled the veggies, spices and liquid. Even better today! I cut my potatoes in bigger chunks so they wouldn't cook to mush. I used chopped garlic instead of garlic powder. Will definitely make again!
