Perfect Apple Pie

My first time making a homemade apple pie and it came out perfect! I used all granny smith apples and the "best ever pie crust" recipe from this site. (i love that flaky pie crust recipe!) I added the 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to a bowl of water and let the apple slices soak while I got my other ingredients together. The changes I made to the filling mixture were: 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar as others suggested, 1 tsp. of vanilla and a 1/4 tsp of salt. I sprinkled some of the dry ingredient mixture on the bottom of the pie crust before I added the apples and vanilla to it. I did not brush the top with egg yolk.

Simple Turkey Chili

This turned out great! I had to make a few changes based on what I had in the cupboard. I only had a 15 ounce can of crushed tomatoes so I added 1 can of Campbells tomato soup. I doubled the cumin to 1 tsp and used about half the amount of chili powder (sprinkled it to taste). I used 1 cup of chicken broth instead of the 2 cups of water. My mistake was adding salt when there is enough salt in the broth. I also added chopped green peppers when I was browning the ground turkey and onion. Oh and I added a can of pinto beans drained. Omitted the oregano, cayenne and black pepper and sprinkled red pepper flakes to taste. I didnt mash the kidney beans. By only adding 1 cup of liquid you have a good chili consistency. Kinda tastes like Wendys chili! Yum!

Seafood Fettuccine

I had to improvise based on ingredients I had on hand and it still turned out great. I reduced the green onion to approx 1/2 cup and I used 3 teaspoons of minced garlic. I used a cup and a half of 2 % milk plus 6 ounces of plain yogurt. I used about a 1/2 pound of shrimp. I did use flour to thicken the sauce, I prefer cornstarch but I was out of it.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

I made this last night. It was my first time ever grilling shrimp and it turned out so good! I used half the amount of oregano. I think next time I will decrease the lemon and add a little more hot sauce. I also marinated chicken breast and put them on skewers as well. It works well with chicken too!
