Ethiopian Vegetable Bowl

A delicious option for serving vegetarian friends. Next time I'll try adding chopped chicken; it just seems right for it!

Ye Ole Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
I found Lyle's Golden Syrup in the syrup aisle of QFC (grocery store chain in my region). I made this for dipping into chocolate fondue at a Xmas party. Major YUM!!! If serving for company, bake the day of; your house will smell terrific for hours! A holiday keeper for my household.

Busy Day Barbeque Brisket

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
The recipe as written proved too salty for us although it was tender. The second effort, in lieu of the spices, I used a BBQ rub purchased at a spice shop and did not add salt or pepper. Smoke, Worstershire and BBQ sauce remained the same. Mm-mm, FANTASTIC! A far more palatable variation for our family! 3 stars originally; 5 stars now.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
OMG, the best slow cook recipe I've tried! I followed es' (11/07 post) cooking instructions with a 2 lb pork shoulder using red sea salt that I found at Whole Foods (inexplicably in a display by dairy) and Stubbs' Hickory Liquid Smoke. After 5 hours of cooking, I sliced into small strips (wasn't sure how to shred and didn't have the time) and put back in the crock and juices for another hour. Tender, juicy, flavorful, melt in your mouth, great on rice...yeah baby!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

The balsamic gave this dish a nice tang. Chicken breasts came out tender...not bad for this dark meat lover!

Apple Cranberry Cider

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
I used just two-thirds of the sugar called for, used cider, and slow-cooked it on high for 2 hours...mm-mm-mm!!! Perfect for a blustery fall day... 12/13/08 For a party I eliminated the sugar entirely and slow-cooked as before. The cider was gone by the time I thought to get a cup! Everyone swooned over it.
