Honey Lime Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2014
My husband and I were not a fan of this recipe. The mixture was too runny so it didn't stick to the wings. The flavors together were fine for me but my husband did not like them.

Rhubarb Dumplings

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
These were delicious and a great way to use rhubarb. I will definitely be making these again! I used half white sugar half brown sugar to cut down the sweetness.

Slow Cooker Chili II

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2012
I have made this several times. The first time I made it I found it tasty but something didn't taste quite right. After several experimentations I believe it was using the liquid in the beans and the spice blend that gave it an odd flavor. This last attempt was so different from the recipe that it is hard to give more than 3 stars. 1 can each of kidney and black beans drained and rinsed, 1 cup tomato sauce for some liquid, 1 can diced tomatoes, extra chili powder, ground cumin, no basil or parsely (gives it an "earthy" taste), no celery and I added 1 can creamed corn. It was so good this is now my official chili recipe. It tastes good vegetarian style as well by adding ground round in place of ground beef

Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
these were delicious! I used a premade pie dough because I did not have time to make my own. I thought that the caramel sauce would get a little thicker and might try thickening it a little next time but still delicious. Served it with vanilla ice cream.

Thai Red Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
I really wanted to make a good red curry but after reading some of the reviews on this recipe and noticing something not so authentic like cornstarch in the ingredients I decided to do some research. I made something that was still similar to this recipe: 1/2 yellow pepper, 1/2 red pepper both thinly slice, one carrot thinly sliced, 3 tbsp of red curry paste, 1 can coconut mild, 2 1/2 tbsp fish sauce, 1 tbsp lime juice, 2 chicken breast sliced thinly, 1 cup bean sprouts, 10 snow pea shoots, and 1/4 cup cilantro. So you can see it was similar but much more authentic and the flavours were amazing. I probably shouldn't even be rating this recipe seen as I didn't really follow it through but I wanted to share with everyone what I did and let you all know I was so impressed with the flavours. I must thank this recipe for giving me the basic iddea.

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
I am only giving it four stars for now. I did not have butter so I had to use margarine. I think the butter flavour is what this was missing so I will make it again and change the rating if it is 5 stars with butter. I used half & half cream and peeled but did not seed the tomatoes. I also added 2 tsp of sugar to settle the acidity of the tomatoes.

Barbeque Pork Two Ways

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
I love this recipe!!! I did a pulled pork day to raise money at work. Everyone signed up and loved this pork. I had to give them the recipe! I made a couple little changes though. I find that any Pork cut usually works as long as there is no bone. I used 2 cloves of garlic,2 tsp dry mustard, no salt (I try to cut it out when it is not necessary), and I used 3/4 cup ketchup, and 3/4 cup bbq sauce because I wanted more of a bbq flavour.

Curried Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
I love this recipe but my husband is not the biggest fan. I still make it on occasion and he will still eats it. His biggest problem is the curry (he's not much of a curry fan.) I love curry! I use a little less butter and a little less curry.

My Kid's Favorite Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
These were delicious. I used a whole can of beer because I did not want to waste any. I only used one onion, 1/2 cup of bbq and simmered it for 30 minutes. I added a tbsp of cornstarch mixed with a tbps of water at the end just to thicken the sauce up a bit. My husband could not stop talking about how good it smelt and how tender the meat was.

Gyros Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2010
These were awesome!! They actually tasted like Gyros. I completely forgot to put the grated onion in and did not have savory so I substituted Thyme but it was still delicious. I served them in pita pockets with lettuce, tomato, feta and tzatziki. I will definitly be making these again!

Fresh Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
I enjoyed this soup but my husband said it was missing something. I had problems with it being stringy but next time I will try cutting the asparagus into smaller pieces and cooking them a little longer. The only changes I made was that I used 1% milk instead of soy and I don't usually use flour to thicken so I replaced it with cornstarch. Next time I think I will add some garlic.

Cheesy Potato and Corn Chowder

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
This was delicious and I wish I had doubled the recipe. I did make a few changes; I added a can of creamed corn and then used 1 cup frozen corn because I never buy corn canned. I used 3 cups chicken broth and 1 cup milk. Instead of the gravy mix I stirred 1 tbsp of corn starch into the milk before adding it to the pot. I also used real cheddar chesse. I used 1 tbsp of dried crushed chili peppers which made it very spicy, next time I will only use 1/2 a tbsp

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
This was delicious! I cut the recipe in half and I still had leftovers. I added 2 tbsp of bacon bits and used the kraft already shredded Monterey jack, mozzarella, and cheddar mix. Next time I will add some green onions and some pepper flakes for some spice

Italian Rice Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
These were very bland! I put mozzerealla cheese in the middle and tried to spice up the rice with some diffrent spices but Igot nothing. My fiance liked them and my friend said they might taste good with some ground pork in the middle. I might try to make them again with some ground pork in the middle but it does seem like a lot of work.

Cherry Cheese Pie II

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
have made this several times and each time people say it is so delicious! It's cheescake in pie form. I use cherry preserves that I have on hand from the cherry season but I am sure the pie filling would be just as good.

Ultimate Party Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
These were good, but I found that there was no bang to them. I had never tried heinz chili sauce and maybe I was expecting something more spicy and not so ketchupy. I think this is a good base recipe but I would like to add maybe some sweet chile sauce next time and or a chili garlic sauce.

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I thought this salmon topping was delicious. I will use a better cut of salmon next time. I was only cooking for 2 so I halved the recipe. Next time I will try and coat both sides of the fish and see how it turns out on a grill.

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
This was so simple and delicious. The only change I made was that I added a cup of corn to the soup. I always have these items on hand (except for the ham but it's good without it anyway.)This recipe was quick and simple just what you need for a busy house hold!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
These were so good. They were soft and moist on the inside. The only complaint was that the icing did not stay on the cookies, it dribbled off. I would make a divot hole in the cookies next time so that the icing stays on the top.

Cheese Ravioli with Pumpkin Sage Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
This was delicious. It was not to strong in pumpkin flavor so I could serve it to my fiance ( who thinks he hates pumpkin) I made it with with homemade pumpkin ricotta ravioli, a recipe on this site and they went great together. Unfortunately the ravioli was way to time consuming and I will probably not make them again but the sauce I will definitely be making it again.
