Ice Cream Base

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
This is amazing and SO delicious. I substituted 1 cup 1 percent milk for 1 cup of the half-and-half and it still was creamy and very rich. I flavored it with 1/2 cup cocoa powder. I may reduce the cocoa powder next time, but other than that, it was perfect! Thanks for the great recipe!

Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
This is a "brownie" like cake. Very good. Have yet to have a anyone guess that it has beans in it! I use a 15 oz. can and it turned out just fine. It's fast and simple to make!

Scaled the recipe down for our family and it was amazing! I've been looking for a good Greek dressing and this one is by far the best I've tried.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
Perfect texture! My only change was in the spices. I used a pre-made cinnamon blend sold by the Pampered Chef. A really great recipe.

Mendi's Favorite Orzo

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I turned this into a main dish by doubling the recipe and adding chicken breast sauteed in fresh garlic and olive oil. Omitted butter and sauteed mushrooms with the chicken. I also added a little more garlic when I added the pasta and vegetables. I use a whole wheat orzo. We really enjoyed this recipe and I will definitely make it again.

Greek Orzo Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Very good recipe. Next time I will be sure to use marinated artichokes as I think that was the only problem with my version. I really liked this salad. My husband, who is NOT a picky eater didn't really care for it though.

Cinnamon, Spice and Everything Nice Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
I had a little trouble with the first two batches that went into the oven, but by the third batch they were turning out good. I think I made too many substitutions which caused a runny cookie to start with. Mine were still very flat and the appearance wasn't great but the flavor was AWESOME! My husband really liked them. Next time I will try to follow the recipe closer because this was a really great flavored cookie. :>)

Sausage Gravy I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
I was surprised how easy this was to make. My husband was impressed, which is all I ask for! He said it could use a little more pepper next time. I did not add the extra grease and we have extra lean sausage and it was still great.

Tex-Mex Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
LOVED IT! I followed the recipe pretty exactly except I didn't add cheese or sour cream at the end. We just added a tbsp before serving. I did increase the chili powder and cumin because we like it a little spicier. I think it makes more like 8 servings. With just me and my hubby eating we had it for 3 meals each with seconds for both of us! It was very tasty. I have some more turkey in the freezer that I will be using again for this recipe!

Chili Jack Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This was okay. I added an extra can of green chilies because we really like them and the flavor was still pretty mild. I will probably make it again but make a few changes. It's a good base recipe to start with and very easy to put together.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

5 stars for flavor! 4 stars for texture. It turned out a little dry, but I always seem to have problems making bread. I will definitely use this recipe again because the flavor is great.

Mexican Rice II

This was a great recipe. I added a little chili powder and red pepper which gave it a really nice taste. I will definitely make this recipe again. Next time I think I will try adding some freshly minced garlic. Overall this is the best Mexican rice recipe I've tried.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
This is a good basic recipe though a little too sweet for our tastes. I used whole wheat flour and melted Smart Balance (margarine) in place of the oil. Instead of the germ I used up some left over cereal crumbs like raisin bran and shredded wheat and cranberries instead of raisins. I will make the same next time except decrease sugar to about 1/4 cup and use a portion of real maple syrup in place of 1/2 of the honey.

Whole Wheat Maple Quick Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
This was a very good, quick and simple recipe. I omitted the lemon and added about 2 tbsp. extra maple syrup. I also used vanilla flavored yogurt and used cinnamon plus pumpkin pie seasoning for extra taste. It was finished cooking about 5 minutes early so be sure to check it before the 50 minutes. I put a few dollops of butter on top after it came out of the oven and sprinkled with raw sugar. My company loved it and I will definitely make it again.

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
I love this recipe because it is so easy to make and my family loves to eat it. I've made it several times. I substitute honey for the corn syrup and use lightly crushed Special K in place of the rice crispy cereal.
