About this Cook
I'm 25 yrs old and I began to dabble in the culinary arts a few years ago. I'll cook for anyone willing to eat [which is almost everyone I know] and experimenting with all the wordly tastes I've grown up with -- born in Italy, lived in Japan, Korea, and Memphis TN. Mom is Mexican, dad is Caucasian. There's a lot of tips/tricks that I need to learn but I'm on my way -- there seems to be a fire under my butt to cook as much as possible because it's all I do now!
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy cooking with farm fresh ingredients as much as possible. You'll often find me at my local farmers market stocking up on everything from produce to local cheeses and steaks.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only cooking tradition I can think of is making tamales with all the women of the hispanic side of my family around Christmas time. I really hope to bring this tradition into my future family and create even more.
My cooking triumphs
I consider any dish that my loved ones enjoy to be a success.
My cooking tragedies
I burnt milk once -- some instant potatoes called to warm milk on the stove top. I was goofing around with my friend and totally forgot about the milk. Next thing I know the pot is overflowing with milk-fizz and the bottom of the pot is coated in a layer of burnt milk. Ew.

Sweet and Sour Chicken II
Another winner, thanks for the recipe! I also fried my chicken in a cornstarch coating, and then subbed cornstarch for flour in the sauce (mixed with ketchup). We didn't have -ANY- of the veggies but even without this was a great recipe. Sure to be a winner with the veggies too.

Baked Sweet Potato with Onions and Red Peppers
We LOVED this recipe, but we made a few tweaks: 2 bell peppers, caramelized with the onions (butter, brown sugar, salt), and lite sour cream instead of yogurt. We also used ground turkey instead of veggie meat. Absolutely delicious!
