About this Cook
Three kids aged 4-13. I'm a pediatric nurse.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and make candies. My best family memories involve food of some sort so I'm always making something to give the neighbors or take to work or have friends over. The kids always take the "cool" snacks to school and my husband complains that I'm trying to fatten him up for the holiday dinner.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My sisters and I used to make cut-out cookies together. Now I get with my husbands' family and we make tons of candy and anise (yuck) cookies that take all day. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I make most of the meal myself but it's nice having everyone enjoying the food and having a good time.
My cooking triumphs
I made my mothers' wedding cake 2 years ago. Last month I made apple turnovers with real puff pastry. Yummy.
My cooking tragedies
I don't recall any real tragedies. I forgot I was grilling burges once and I brought in 2-inch charcoal briquets...and left a note saying I was going to buy lunch. The first thing I ever made was choc. chip cookies and I added 2 whole eggs-including the shell.

Onion Soup Mix
In the description it states that it makes the equivalent of one packet of soup mix. The instructions state to simply mix it together.

Frozen Chocolate Pie
The whole family LOVED this pie. Especially my ice creamaholic husband. Made a graham cracker crust but otherwise made as written. So yummy :)

Veggie Burgers
These were soo good, but I did spice them up a bit with Stacey's Hamburger Seasoning recipe. I threw the oats into the food processor to make a flour, and only chopped the veggies then threw them into the food processor before sauteing. I mixed the seasoning with the oatmeal then mixed as the recipe states and chilled overnight. I got six patties using my hamburger press but I omitted the AP flour completely. They are very sticky, but I had no trouble handling them and they held together very well.
