About this Cook
I like to go to the farmer's market, and plant a few things in our garden. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time (eating is too)
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook all sorts of everything, I don't bake much, and if a recipe has spring form pans, or separated eggs (too complicated for a simpleton like me) I avoid it. I really love to make soups and casseroles because they are so versatile.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making holiday dinners with my Mom.
My cooking triumphs
When my friends said I was a "GOOD" cook. I thought I just cooked...
My cooking tragedies
any time I try to make gravy, other than from a mix...

Balsamic Glazed Carrots
This recipe is a great find! I try to find new and interesting ways to fix veggies, this is so easy, and tastes great! I used regular carrots, cut into small pieces. Definately need to par-boil for a few minutes before sauteeing

Fried Cabbage Texas Style
I really enjoyed this cabbage, next time I may use 4 slices of bacon to make a little less greasy. My boyfriend, who is quite daring in the kitchen, made mini-eggrolls with some wonton wrappers and the leftover cabbage the next day, and as strange as it sounds, they were fabulous, spicy, little egg rolls.

Dad's Down Home Cornbread and Jalapeno Meatloaf
I am always looking for good ways to make meatloaf. I thought this was very good, a nice change from the regular versions. I used corn muffin mix, instead of crumbs, and all ground beef, instead of beef/pork. Also, I cooked on a rack so the grease drained. It retained it's loaf shape, and was great the next day!
