About this Cook
I'm a grandmother. And a schooled judge for beer competitions. And I'm engaged to a musician. I enjoy the out-of-doors, music, animals, forensic television shows and cooking all day on Sundays. Traditional meals from Ireland are fun to cook, but I'm branching out into other cultures and am excited about all of the different spices and flavors of the world. I'm also an artist who appreciates being taken OUT for unusual dinner experiences after a long day of work! I'll try almost anything unless it's still alive! No insects.
My favorite things to cook
I'm really into Ahi Tuna at this time. Getting into simple meal preparations while staying healthy is becoming a fun past time and more prooductive for health and local farm economy issues.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Irish and American Southern cooking.
My cooking triumphs
Haggis. It turned out very well.
My cooking tragedies
My first haggis was so full of liver flavor that no-one but me would eat it and THEN I had to use catsup!

Krystal's Perfect Marinade for BBQ or Grilled Chicken
The aroma was tantalizing! I only marinated for an hour and a half due to time crunch for dinner. Other than that, I didn't change a single thing. I served it with brown rice that I'd minced small bits of pineapple, mango and mint into. I added some aged hard cider to the leftover marinade and made a demi-glaze to pour over the rice and my guests really loved it. I'm saving this marinade recipe. Other reviewers have used it on other meats and I'm going to do that as well. Thank you so much for such a simple and well balanced, elegant marinade!

Kielbasa with Brussels Sprouts in Mustard Cream Sauce
This recipe is excellent! The sauce makes the dish. I followed the sauce recipe exactly but had to tinker with a few other things because of diets in the household. We used fresh Polish kielbasa from the Polish market near our home. I didn't have shallots, but steamed an onion with fresh chopped garlic then ran the mix through my food processor. Then I halved and roasted the brussels sprouts in olive oil. I had to leave out the beans because of my diet, but added a chopped artichoke. I made double sauce and served everything over organic spinach fettucini for my husband and dry scrambled eggs for me since I'm on the Atkins diet. I urge everyone who even remotely likes brussels sprouts to try this recipe. It's going to be a keeper in our household. I'm so thrilled with the way the sauce turned out! I wish I could give more stars.

Stir Fry Tomato and Eggs
Simplicity is a valuable asset with some dishes and this one isn't any different. I made the dish exactly as the recipe indicated and loved it! I prefer a little more salt with the tomatoes and salted them before adding them to the eggs. It was very surprising to me that a previous reviewer with an 'expert' rating was disappointed that this dish tasted like scrambled eggs with tomatoes since the list of ingredients leaves nothing to the imagination. I loved the taste of the fresh tomatoes with the eggs. I wouldn't change a thing in this recipe. Yum!
