Peach Cobbler I

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2012
I added cinnamon and some ginger to the peaches, and used brown sugar on the peaches. But my big "mistake" was adding too much milk. The dough was very runny! I threw it in there anyway, and it was still really good, but more a dump cake!

Made this several times, and everyone really likes it. I do add more spices though, it was a little bland by cajan standards.

Absolute Best Liver and Onions

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
Best liver I've ever had. Lol, I really do not like liver, though, and this recipe didn't turn me into a convert, so 4 stars. I will use it when I have request for liver!

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2012
I was going to mix this the way a quick bread should be instead of all in one bowl, but then I ran out of time, and followed the recipe exactlly, and was really impressed! We ate it as an afternoon snack, straight from the oven, and my kids loved it. Nice and moist, cut well straight from the oven! Next time I will probably mix it more traditionally, and will double the topping, maybe even throw in some apple chunks, but this was tasty and hit the spot as it's written!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2012
I personally don't eat hot food, but had a party and hot wings were requested, I followed the recipe, and they were a huge hit! I am now famous for my hot wings, and they are expected at every function!

Southern Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
Loved it! It was very good. I made per instructions this time, but may substitute the corn syrup for molasses next time. For those who said the filling never set- this is a custard pie, like pumpkin or pecan, bake until the filling is set except for a little jiggle in the middle. You will probably need to cover the crust with tin foil to keep it from burning.

Creamy Chicken, Bacon and Tomato Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
I loved this, it was as easy as spaghetti, and so much better! Three of my kids were not crazy about it, but they do not like "chunky" tomatoes. I may just use spaghetti sauce next time, and I'm sure they will like it. My 15 yr. old has added it to her 'learn to cook' list, and my husband said he wanted it often!

Cappuccino Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
I really did a bad job on these! I over mixed and over cooked them, but everyone went nuts over them! I would recomend adding the chips with the liquids to avoid over-mixing, also watch them closely, the time was a little long. I will add more coffee next time, and not add as much cinnamon, but that is a personal preferance. As is, my kids loved them, but they are more a dessert, not breakfast. Try them!!

Stuffed Jalapenos III

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2011
I made 60 halves for a group of 25 people, there were none left! I did pull them out of the oven after 20 mins, and they were almost burnt, so watch the time! I will also add some finely shredded chedder cheese next time.

Apple Brine for Turkey the Night Before Cooking

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
We eat turkey frequently since it is inexpensive for our large family, so I wanted something a little different for the holidays. This did make a difference, not so much in the flavor, which was good, but the turkey was much more moist and it seemed to have a more intense taste. The leftovers were great in turkey and dumplings! One warning though, it makes a BIG diffrence in cooking time! My turkey was done a full hour before normal! I will use this recipe again and again. Just the cut in cooking time made it worth it to me!

Wonderful! Made to directions the first time, we loved it, like warm cinnamon ice cream, but it made me think of all kinds of things I could change to make it a little diffrent. We will use it for ice cream, and all kinds of desserts!

Hot Water Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2008
Out of 8 people, 6 loved it, one said it was ok, and one did not like it. I liked it, but it was a little bit too salty. I fried it in bacon grease, so I think that upped the salt a little bit. I was wanting a recipe that duplicated one my grandmother use to make, this is not it, but close. I will add some garlic and onion powder, and maybe some other things and try again. Good base recipe, adjust to your taste!!
