Cheese Ravioli with Three Pepper Topping

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
This was a pretty good dish; I made a few beneficial modifications. I added an entire red bell pepper, 1/2c sun dried tomatoes, substituted green onion and added 1t basil, 1t oregano, 1t parsely and 1/2t thyme. I thought the amount (1/4) of hot pepper was perfect. This took a bit of time to reduce the sauce but the finished product was good.

Rich, Easy, Old-Fashioned Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
I clipped this recipes from USA Weekend which contained an error in the amount of chips. Even with that fixed, the pudding was too thin in consistency. I'm not sure if I made a mistake or if there should be more cornstarch. The flavor was good and I think there is potential, hence the three stars.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
This is an excellent and easy recipe. I made 48 cookies. I let the cookies cool in the non-stick, ungreased tray for about five minutes and it was easy to remove them from the tray with a butter knife. Next time I will add festive sprinkles as shown in the picture.

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
This spread is delicious. I served it with Pumpkin Waffles and the butter was the bigger hit! I used 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/4 c honey and omitted the sugar.

I used an entire pint of sour cream and separated the eggs to make it feel a little lighter. A wonderful basic recipe.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2006
Very good. I scaled-up the recipes and usd 10 apples, 3/4 c sugar ut only 1 c water since I cooked it in my slow cooker on high for four hours. Delicious. I added some extra cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg for fun.

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
I am not a big butterscotch fan but these cookies were great. I made this batch for a friend who loves them but I ate more than a few myself. I think the oats balance the over-sweet butterscotch flavor.

Chocolate Cake in a Jar I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
I received this in a Christmas gift exchange. It was cute, pretty and tasted okay. I prefer fresh cake but in a pinch this is a nice substitute.

Grilled Peaches

I think I did something wrong. The flavors never seemed to blend together. I will try again since I love the idea. A previous poster was referring to Gunlach Bundschu, an awesome Sonoma winery.

Children's Gingerbread House

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
I really should have trimed the pieces after they cooked. I had the most crooked house in town. It was still cute but not as pretty as it could have been.

Love Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
I recevied this as a bridal shower favor. It was pretty and cute but only tasted okay. By the time the beans were cooked the pasta was mushy. So next time, I would add the pasta in the last few minutes of cooking- which takes away for the appeal of everything being in one jar.

Okay when prepared as stated. I made some changes to make it great, reduce sugar to 2c, add 3/4 c cocoa, substituted 1/2c milk and 1/2c cream for evaporated milk.

Mexican Bean Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
I added a can of tomatoes with jalapenos and used medium salsa for the right amount of kick. I didn't have any olives or corn, but will try next time. My springform pan created a beautiful pie.

Apple Spice Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
I substituted dried cranberries for the raisins, and used 1 c of whole wheat flour plus 1 c of all purpose flour. I used three Empire apples. I made 24 muffins, cooking for about 30 minutes at 350. Though the muffins weren't very pretty they tasted very good. Next time, I will add another teaspoon of cinnamon.
