Beef Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
Very tasty. The only thing I did different was to saute a medium onion in the water that I used to boil the meat and then added the onion to the beef, potato, carrot mix. Also added a few canned mushrooms that I had left over. Quite good and will probably make again

Oil Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I followed the other reviewers' suggestions--sifting the flour, etc--and it didn't roll out well at all. Added some extra oil to it and finally got it to stick together enough to make my beef pot pie. I probably wont use this recipe again. Hard to find a really good flaky pie crust recipe.

Savory Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2007
Excellent!!! I made a few modificatons though. Used the whole box of cake mix and decreased the flour to 4 cups. Since the dough was very sticky and hard to handle, would probably decrease the water by 1/2 cup also. Be sure to turn the dough out on a WELL floured board. It was too sticky to roll out, but floured the top and patted it into a large rectangle and it worked fine. They did turn out to be delicious. Like some of the other reviewers, I mixed up a larger dose of the sugar and cinnamon and was glad I did. They were tasty!! Would be good as a sticky bun recipe also. Oh and I made a thin icing--left out butter--and drizzled it over top of buns. Yum!!

Alienated Blueberry Muffins

Easy to make, good taste but they did not rise as expected. Probably wont make again.

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
Delicious old-fashioned stuffing. I halved the recipe as we had a small turkey. I used about a 1/3 cup more broth and 1/2 tsp more of poultry seasoning and it turned out great--moist and flavorful. Definitely is a keeper.

Oatmeal Thumbprints

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
The batter was not firm enough for thumbprints, although I made a few. It is a good recipe for a soft plain oatmeal cookie, however, if that's what you want. They spread nicely on the baking sheet. I only made half the recipe and had plenty of cookies--about 2 dozen. I also dropped the oven temp to 350 and baked for 10 minutes, as we like soft chewy cookies.

Garlic Pork Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
An easy tasteful Sunday dinner. The pork would have been a little bland had I not took the advice of some other reviewers and seasoned it. I used garlic powder, dry basil and a couple of bay leaves. Otherwise, followed the recipe according to directions. Meat was tender and moist and the veggies done just right. I dropped a few baby carrots in with mine. Made cooking a meal a snap. I will probably use this recipe again and try some different seasonings until I get it just right. I strained the "juice" left at the bottom of the crock and refrigerated it overnight to skim the fat off in the morning. Used it as a base for gravy for hot pork sandwiches, as hubby doesn't care for gravy on potatoes. Worked fine.

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
Very good recipe. Crispy on the outside yet soft on inside and the hot dog was heated all the way through. I did a little variation in the batter by adding a couple of green onions sliced thin. Gave a hint of onions on your hot dog too!! That wasn't my idea, though, got it from Rachael Ray the day she made corn dogs. She baked hers and they looked fine--course didn't taste them lol

Super Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
Great taste and easy. Would be good over rice, noodles or mashed potatoes. I added a can of drained peas the last 30 minutes and turned it to high to be sure the chicken was cooked all the way through. Probably wouldnt have to do that if the chicken strips were thin.

Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
Good old fashioned recipe--just the kind I was looking for. After it sets about 5 minutes from oven, no longer soupy. Would be good with cubed ham pieces in it for a variation.

Onion Meat Loaf

Great tasting but would probably add more catsup to make it moist.

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
Everything had such a good taste. I put veggies in the slow cooker first, then the roast salt and peppered and with bay leaf. I also thickened the sauce a little afterwards with a roue, as we like our gravies a little thicker.

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
My husband and I both thought the taste couldn't be beat. If you don't have fresh mushrooms, the sliced canned variety works also. I'll definitely use this recipe again.
