Idaho Fry Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2014
I love this sauce! I do cut back or leave out altogether the sugar as I like a more vinegar tartness to my sauce but I have yet to have home baked "fries" without having this sauce too. I think it's just great. Thanks for sharing.

French Silk Chocolate Pie III

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
I too was worried about the amount of butter. I read some of the reviews and some cut the butter down to 1 cup so I did that. But after whipping it I found I needed the full 2 cups of butter in order to fill my Pyrex fluted glass pan. Tasted great! Not too buttery at all. I also used 4 eggs which again worked perfect for me. If I were you I would try it the orginial way the first time and then makes any changes you feel are neccessary. I don't think this pie needs whipped cream either but that's just my taste. :-)

Cucumber and Olive Appetizers

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
Good recipes. I chopped up the cucumber and olives and mixed them in with the cream cheese. At first I tried to make this without the blue dressing(I normally make my own but didn't feel like making any this time) but the dip did need it, so I added some blue cheese salad dressing and that made it taste better.

French Onion Dip From Scratch

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
This recipe is a good place to start but I agree with Crowchick it is wat too mayonnaisy. I would only add a 1/2 cup of mayo and 1 1/2 cups of sour cream. That's what I did and it tasted much better then the 1 cup of mayo version. But again a good base recipe. I changed nothing but the mayo and sour cream.

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Very, very, very good holiday drink. I put everything but the rum in a crockpot on warm for 10-12 hours(really just let it sat on warm for the whole weekend) and then added rum to each serving/taste. Would make again.

Hearty Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
I added about 1/2 cup of applesauce to this and bake it in a 7 x 11 pan; then cut it into bars when it was cool. Very mosit and peanuty too. I also used crunchy peanut butter---that's all I had on hand.

Banana Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
We just took these out of the oven and they are wonderful! I did make a few changes: 1. Added about a 1/4 cup of ground flax seeds 2. Used Agava syrup instead of honey(just didn't have honey on hand) 3. Added 1/2 of applesauce. We baked them as muffins for 15 minutes. Will make again.

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
Great recipe. I used 3 whole eggs and heated the milk up via the beverage setting on the microwave (2 cycles) and pastry cream turned out wonderful. Will keep this recipe and use again. In fact I want to make cream puffs and fill with this cream.

Fish Tacos with Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw and Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
I mixed the lime juice, honey, oil and cumin together added some salt poured some out for "dipping" sauce and then poured some over the fish. Did not let fish sit for four hours; forgot to. I just eye-balled the mayo for slaw; fried the fish in a simple flour batter then served the fish slow and sauce in flour tortillas. Hubby and I both really liked it. Will make again.

Baked Snapper with Mandarin Oranges, Cashews and Ginger

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
I think this recipe could be good but needs some work. Sauce was not bold or thick enough for me. I will try this again and next time I will cook sauce and fish on their own and then dress the fish. A good starting place.

German Apple Dapple Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
This cake was good but I felt that it would have been even better if I had added cinnamon, clove, allspice, etc. If I make this again I would add some of those spices to the batter. My caramel sauce harded up on the cake but that was O.K.

Wasabi Pea Gnocchi

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
I liked this idea but found that the flavors were very mild; needed more wasabi for my taste. Again loved the idea and may retry this recipe again.

Lemon Mint Pasta Salad

Hubby and I loved this salad. We used plain Greek yogurt, lemon juice and zest, seedless green grapes, a whole smaller sweet onion and mint. This salad was great! We will be making this one again and again!

Pork Tenderloin with a Honey Grape Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
My husband and I loved this recipe! I did use onion because that's what I had on hand and I eyeballed everything else; that's how I cook. I had already cooked pork that I just heated up and then served the sauce over it. It was great tasting!! Will make this one again and again.

Hot Chicken Salad II

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
A easy and good recipe. Hubby and I both like it. It is what I would call "white bread" food but tonight that's what I wanted. :) I used fresh mushrooms; cooked them with the celery first and then put everything together. I will make this again and adapt it from time to time.

Creamy Pineapple Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
Very good salad; very easy to make too. I did use orange gelatin as my store did not have lemon in the 3oz size and I did not want to just use part of a box. I will make this again. I also want to try other flavors of fruit and gelatin. :)
