2nd-year college student who loves food... especially desserts :) Just got interested in cooking a couple years ago (quite randomly actually) and now spend so much time on Allrecipes it should really be illegal. Love baking cookies, bread, attempting to cook various international (and American) dishes. My goal is to be able to cook an entire meal without looking every ten seconds at the recipe.
My favorite things to cook
At this point, I'd probably say cookies. Bread also... the smell of home-baked bread as opposed to some store bought not-as-fresh-loaf is just amazing. Trying to get more into actually cooking and liking my end result.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None really... just the actual gathering during Christmas and, even though we traditionally don't celebrate it, Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
Bread. First time I baked a full loaf that made the house smell so wonderful and actually not taste half bad either. And roasting a turkey for thanksgiving for the first time ever.. just the actual completion was just great and my family was so impressed 'cause we'd never done the whole turkey-thanksgiving thing.
My cooking tragedies
Um.. there have kind of been a lot.. starting with some chocolate chip cookie that asked for yeast.. yeah till this day I have never seen another cookie recipe with yeast so that should have clued me in. Maybe it was just my inexperience. Oh and a cheesecake that I baked in a 9 x 5 loaf pan as opposed to a 9 x 13 pan... the cheesecake was disgusting looking all smushed and undercooked.. and I didn't realize what I'd done wrong until recently when I learned the difference pan-size makes.
