Hearty Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
Casserole was ok. It definitely was dry and was missing something... Didn't use the zucchini as we don't eat zucchini.. but I followed the rest to the T and it just seemed very bland. Maybe mixing it up with some other spices will help. It also wasn't as "creamy" as when I would make tuna casserole from mush soup. I had to add milk becuase it seemed too dry. May try again.. not sure.

Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
This is mor like 3.5 stars. They were not bad.. not specatular, but not bad either. It seems they were just missing something.. not sure what.. but they were a little on the bland side. Next time maybe i'll mix some grated cheese in them. It just missed something but i'm not sure what it was missing.. overall not bad..

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Pretty good recipe with a few modifications. I did as others suggested and used water as I had no lemon slices. I cooked it for 2 hours at 300 with tightly wrapped aluminum foil on it, i seasoned with celery salt, salt, pepper and ground mustard. I then put the bbq sauce on and left foil on for another 20 min and removed for the last 40. Turned out pretty darn good for my first time! Hubby liked it said only one was a little tougher to eat and it was a thicker one so it may of needed cooking longer not sure. But overall good!

Delish Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Overall it was a good recipe. Needed some additional seasoning I thought. So I added 2 cloves garlic, celery salt, 1 shallot, some ketchup, barbeque sauce, & a smidge of honey mustard dipping. I didn't have any worcestershire sauce, so i used sweet baby rays barbeque instead. Overall it turned out pretty good I thought. Just needs something more..

Oven Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
Made a 1/2 batch for egg/bacon sandwiches on bagels. Added some shredded cheese to the mix before baking and put it in a smaller glass pan. Took alot longer to cook doing it that way and made them pretty thick. Had some big air bubbles as well. They seem to taste good though. May need to play with it some more, but I'll know more tomorrow when I take my bagel sandwich for breakfast! OVerall .. pretty good It hought

New Wife Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
Pretty good. I did a few omissions.. which one was eggs.. only because I didn't have any. Next time I'll try some eggs in it. I also didn't add actual celery I used celery salt. I also added 1 tsp of sugar and salt. Overall it was a really good tuna fish! I really like the added honey mustard as well it adds to the zip. I prefer it zippy vs. plain/boring. Thanks!

London Broil II

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
It was ok. The sauce turned out good.. tho i substituted some things for stuff i didn't have. But the cook time just didn't seem right. I had to cook it alot longer and then it seemed overdone. I dont know maybe I didn't do it right or it should be actually grilled instead of broiled. It turned very tough. Overall it was ok but i'll keep looking..

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
Turned out very juicy! Had a 6 lb chicken and I did exactly what she had in the recipe with the exception of celery as I didn't have any. I can only think that may have made it better even! It was nice and juicy just need some flavoring as in seasoning but overall .. really really good!

Ham Spread

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
This is a decent spread. STill is missing something, not sure what. I added yellow mustard for zip, miracle whip onion flakes, celery salt & relish. It' just missing something, not as good as the store made kind. Still going to keep looking. This is ok and will do.. but just not quite there.

Butter Cream Frosting II

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
I was really hoping this would be "the one" but unfortunately it wasn't. I followed the recipe to a T using butter flavored shortening. After I mixed it all together to taste it tasted like powdered sugar and milk.. nothing else.. had to 'butter' taste to it. It makes a good base for cream cheese frosting.. I ended up adding in a brick of cream cheese to frost my sons' bday cake. Course now I got alot leftover.. but that's ok. I'll use it for something. I'm going to stick with my cream cheese recipe until I find "the one" as this was not it.

Cheesy Brat Stew for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
Turned out pretty good! Made a few modifications I added chopped carrots, canned corn & celery. Used a carton of WI cheese soup instead of shredded cheese. Used additional spices/seasoning & added bacon pieces/bits. Mixed all together in the crockpot and let it go all afternoon. My 2 yr old LOVES it! I did add 1 c of mexican shredded cheese and 1 cup mozzarella at the end just to give it some more cheesy flavor. Overall really good.

Basic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I like basic potatoes as this recipe calls for. As does my husband. I make a few changes though: I use a 5 lb bag of potatoes, boil them, mash them up, put a 1/2 stick butter in to melt, then mash again, add the milk (usually about 3 tbsp), salt and pepper and whip with a electric mixture and it's nice and smooth. My family loves it. For holidays I double the batch and use 1 stick of butter. I havent' tried melting the butter and milk first, I may try that next time tho.

Pancakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Overall this was a really good recipe, just had to tweek a few things. Plus it seriously only makes like 2-3 servings, which I hadn't realized at first. Think next time I'll quadruple it for my family of 5. I doubled the recipe and it was enough for 2 kids, a toddler and my husband. They were very thick, so next time I think I'll add more milk. I also added a little cinnamon. Overall though they were really good and the family loved them. My 2 year old scarfed it down so fast I had to give him another~ and that's an accomplishment! Thanks for a great recipe, I will make again, but I'll search the other reviews for additional suggestions.

Classic Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This was a excellent starting point for me to make an AWESOME Chili!. Here's the modifications that I used: 1 lb italian sausage 1.5 lb 93% lean ground beef 2 cans tomatoes with garlic/olive oil 2 cans chili beans instead of kidney beans Sautee'd the green pepper, onion with minced garlic. Omitted oregano. Mixed in 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce in with the meat as it cooked and then remaining in the chili. Also I added 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Oh my heavens! It was SOOOOOOOOO good! My 2 yr old loved it! Also I omitted the water, left the liquid in the chili beans and let it simmer all afternoon. Perfect for a NFC championship night game!

Hashbrown Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Casserole was good. Needs something a bit more, it was a little bland. I used onion flakes so maybe real onions?? I also added some Bacon seasoning from Tastefully Simple, I didn't care much for the sharp cheese, next time I may use a mixture. Will try again, going to use my leftovers and mix it with my leftover ham from Christmas.

Quick Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
Pretty good.. the soup added a nice creamy taste to it. Didn't really make enough for 2 adults and 3 kids.. next time will probably make a double batch. I also added some garlic powder and some italian seasoning to give it a little flavor. also avoided the peas.. All in all everyone ate it and was pretty satisifed with it. A keeper - probably could also do alot of variations with this and be either just at yummy or even more.

Easy Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Excellent recipe. However I did one thing differnt.. I sauted my chicken with chili powder in a tbsp of oil first then mixed it all together. I dont like hot and spicy so I omitted the green chiles but the chili powder gave it enough of a kick for us. The sour cream just helps make it so creamy too! Thanks

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Perfect icing! Just like the local bakery. Only complain I had was I had to add more milk and syrup to get a spreadable consistency. What's listed is a nice base to start with.. then add until your happy. Sent a batch of sugar cookies to school with my 5 yr old with this frosting and the kids devourerd them
