Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
Brilliant recipe. So tasty! I added bacon, garlic powder, salt and pepper and poured it all into two pie crusts. I omitted the croutons and only cooked it for 45 mins. Spot on!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
I made this chilli for my whole family and they loved it. The only thing I omitted was the celery and bacon bits and instead I added 6 diced rashers of bacon. It makes absolutely loads of food, especially if you serve it with cheese, sour cream, jacket potatoes and salad like I did. The truly great thing about this recipe though is that almost all the ingredients are just everyday stuff that you keep in your cupboard at home so you don't have to dash off to the shops before making it.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Great recipe. I'd only ever made brownies with real chocolate before so I was surprised these ones tasted so chocolatey! The only change I made was to use chopped almonds as I didn't have any walnuts. Easy to make and pretty tasty.

English Flapjack

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
Absolutely delicious and stuck together well. I have had problems with crumbly flapjack in the past! I followed the advice from some of the reviews and used 10 tbsp golden syrup instead of 4, porage instead of rolled oats and sultanas instead of raisins.

Phenomenal Chicken and Pasta in Creamy Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2007
Instead of making the pesto I used a jar of store bought pesto. The dish was absolutely gorgeous though. Definitely a keeper!

Tex-Mex Burger with Cajun Mayo

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
Good burgers which were easy to make. They had a kick to them but weren't too hot and the flavour was nice. The mayo complimented them too.

Beef Wellington

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
Absolutely delicious. I followed the cooking times to the last minute and it come out a nice medium rare. I also didn't bother to let the beef cool before I wrapped it in pastry and it was fine. I also followed the advice from the reviews and baked it on a wire rack.

Teena's Spicy Pesto Chicken and Pasta

Instead of chilli paste I used two medium chillis and I used about double the amount of pesto. It was quick and easy to make and tasted pretty good.

Brown Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
I actually started making this recipe and then realised I didn't have any eggs, pecans or confectioners sugar so I had to make it with chopped almonds and use milk to bind it together. Also obviously I couldn't make the frosting either. I also rolled out the pastry instead and cut it into pretty shapes. The cookies came out nicely. They just sort if tasted like sugary biscuit really. I think the eggs, pecan and frosting would have turned them into a 5 star recipe.

Mexican Lasagna I

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
I made this recipe and my whole family loved it. I followed the advice from some of the reviews and added taco seasoning. I also used half a cup of hot pepper sauce instead of picante sauce because I don't think you can get it in England. I cut the water down to one cup and it was still a bit soggy so I would recommend only using half a cup. All in all it was a good recipe and I thought the olives went really well in it.

Garlicky Baked Butternut Squash

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
It was a good recipe. The squash cooked in about 40 mins. The only change I made was to use powdered parmesan because I didn't have any fresh and I think it gave the squash a funny texture so next time I would definitely use fresh.
