About this Cook
I like to think that I have a pretty diverse palate. Being a Military Brat and having lived in so many different regions, I enjoy a variety of foods. Now that I am much older though I am settled in Oklahoma, enjoying time with my Husband and Daughter. Introducing my husband to new foods that would have made him turn his nose in the past is my biggest challenge in the kitchen...oh and preparing food to share with my toddler is a tough one as well!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is Kalua Pork. Having lived in Hawaii for 8 years while growing up, it reminds me of fun times with friends and family there.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love preparing food for football parties at our house. I try to stay out of the kitchen during the holidays. My Mother and Mother-in-Law are much better cooks than I am.
My cooking triumphs
I am still waiting on a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
There are too many to mention here.

Firecracker Fried Chicken Drumsticks
I am only giving this 3 stars because of the flavor. I marinated the chicken for 36 hours and still didn't taste the hot sauce. Oh well. It was just ok.

Unbelievably Awesome Barbeque Chicken Pizza
This recipe was pretty good and easy to make. I didn't use onion or cilantro because my husband can't stand either. The pizza was still tasty!

Stuffed Peppers
I modified this recipe to bring it up to my Husband's standards...While browning the meat, I added more garlic powder, a dash of ground red pepper and some chili powder. This helped give it a little more flavor. I also used about double the Wors. sauce that this recipe calls for. We love foods with a "kick"! After seeing others advice on covering the dish as it bakes, I did so but pulled the foil with about 10 minutes left.I topped them with cheese (which my Husband said needed to be added to the "stuffing" as well)and baked for the remaining time. I am not a big fan of stuffed peppers but it was pretty tasty and easy to make. I am a big fan of baking things for a while so that I can clean up the kitchen as it cooks!
